Hi to all, does anyone have any suggestions on a good diet food for my 6 year old boy Henry, he has been on CSJ for the past 2+ years which he enjoys and we've never had a problems getting him to eat it, from his early years until we tried him with CSJ we had an awful problem getting him to eat. But, now he needs to lose weight and vet advised us to try Virbac for weight loss and diabetes which we are, at moment it is being mixed with his CSJ to get him used to the change but its really expensive 3kg £24.24 for us its going to be too expensive when we have to buy the larger bags, as he is also having the injection Librela twice a month, as he has the start of arthritis in one of his back leg joint. Any advise would be very much appreciated. Thank you for reading😀😀

Sorry, I dont use any diet food. If I find my dogs getting a little tubby I just simply cut down on their rations slightly, maybe just adding a little cabbage in which has almost no food value for dogs, just to bulk the food up and make it appear to my dog that she is getting a decent amount. Dont try to loose weight too fast, slow and steady does the trick.

I use Masters Meaty Crunch, have done for going on 40 years. I use it for a number of reasons, my dogs like it and seem to do well on it, Masters put money back into dogs by sponsoring a number of working gundog events, and a friend holds the local concession for it so I get very favourable price plus a cup of coffee and all the local news when I go to collect it. But as you can see, having fed the same food for so long my experiences of other foods is VERY limited, so I'm not a good person to talk to about foods.

I feed by eye, at the minute I need glasses as a couple are on the porky side and on reduced rations. Like John, I don't use diet food, I just reduce portion size, and, if appropriate, up exercise. My lot are raw fed with some home made stews thrown in occasionally.
