Do dogs have a yawn reflex?

Every time i scratch Ruby's chin she yawns, i dont mean just opening her mouth, i mean full blown yawn.

Is it a normal reflex, or is she just odd?

I was told, and whether this is right or wrong I don't know, that this is a signal to you to calm down - this was from my working trials instructors who had done various dog type behaviouralist qualifications and did generally know their stuff.

Funnily enough, if I'm over fussing Tau (or sometimes if I'm telling her off), or if she's uncertain about a situation (like the brother's kids mythering her) I notice she yawns at me, Indie doesn't do it so much and old Chloe just does submissive lip licking.

Somestimes if shes using the sofa as a scratching post by rubbing her face on it ill give her chin a scratch, but it always makes her yawn, now i know why!!
