Grrr!

Opened the door to walk basil this morning to be greeted by an ice rink of a drive way and water gushing down the street.

So, I figure I have a leak....not good when you're on a meter. My water pressure is pants too. Turn off the water in the house and try to lift the drain cover in the drive to see if the meter is rolling like a casino slot machine and to turn off the mains if possible but it's too damn heavy. Even just lifting a corner created a huge gush of water 8O

Call the waterboard who say they'll be up to 8 hours. Nice lady on the phone says I probably have half an hour easy to walk the dog so off we go for a very swift run around the fields.

And yes you guessed they came while I was out
The note says it's a drain leak :? From where? My water is off :? What about my pants water pressure? :?
They don't manage the drains so I call another number, who tell me it's my problem as on my property - thank heavens for renting is all I can say.

So literally my sloping driveway has about 3-4 mm of sheet ice on it with water gushing over it replenishing it. The street is now also covered.
There are 3 other homes on our cul-de-sac and i'm a bit worried about the ice, but have no car to go and get any salt etc. as OH has taken it to work.

Well actually scratch that , I couldnt care less about the neighbours either side of me, but the other people - what if they slip? Will it be my fault, I could really do without being sued 8O
I don't have a road sign or anything and it's really really bad. I just hope they spot it as none of them are home at the moment.

Stoopid drains  I have this niggly feeling that huge lorries, many work men etc are going to be required on emergency call out to fix this over new year and after lots of head scratching and sweat they are going to reveal the most humungous plug of dog hair - which of course I am going to have to attempt to deny all knowledge of and bribe said workmen with copius tea and bicuits to instead report it as leaves or something 8O Eek!

I did call them back as I didn't understand how it was a drain leak but they've said it is the drain and they don't manage those

I've called a plumber who's coming out this aft, i'll be mighty annoyed if he confirms it's not the drains.

I'm so annoyed I was out as i do like to supervise workmen  , the cynic in me wonders if he even liften the cover from the driveway or just assumed it was a drain cover and wrote 'drains'
The lady in the call centre said the drains and mains rae often accessed using the same manhole cover so his investigation should be correct.

It's drains and possibly both as it's the same access cover :?

Someone is finally coming out this afternoon, after both the waterboard and the first plumber turned up with no tool to lift the drain cover
