Hi all anybody come across it before but Suzy is trying to hump Macy i know for a fact neither of them are in heat
it is not very funny when your parent come round and suzy decides to mount Macy
she also is humping pillows as anybody come across anything like this before ?
this is a very embrassing issue when freinds pop down or your parents

From what I have read and seen, humping is more of a dominance thing more than sex. Misty did it to Red when she first came to live with us. He weighed about 100 poiunds she at the time about 80. She also tried it wth Jack while he was busy getting into trouble she would jumnp up on his side and hump a couple of seconds and run off before he realized she was there. I have seen pics of a conga line of female Labs. Mostly dominance at work.

It is definitely a dominance issue. My YF, Hunter does it to our BC. He tries to be Alpha, but she has no part of it. She will mount him from the side, the front, it doesn't matter. She doesn't do it to our BM, Shadow. 8)

I agree with labdad and labman57, it sounds like a dominance / assertive behaviour. Isn’t your girl 18 months? If so she’s still very much at the teenage stage, plus the addition of a new puppy whos’s probably just starting to find her feet. It’s quite normal, and although I’ve never had bitches, from what I’ve heard they can be worse than dogs. :shock: I’d be inclined to distract her if you can’t ignore it, and Labdad has given some really good links
