Judy will be 11 years young in October.

This afternoon she suddenly offered up a stool at a very unusual time for her, in a huge quantity which seemed to have a mucus covering to it and quite fresh bright red blood in patches.
It was also very squishy but not the runs.

Apologies to all who had a late lunch(!!!) -- am I right to see how we go for 24 hours and bland diet or should I be more worried than I already am and hit the vets?

Mine sometimes have mucous and spots of blood in their poop, it's how they are in themselves that's more of a sign. I'd say if she's OK in herself she's maybe had a mild tummy upset and keep a close eye on her xx

As Tarimoor says, keep a watching brief. If she’s fine in all other respects, starve for 24 hours and reintroduce a bland diet. Maybe give her some probiotic paste (I always have than in my doggie medicine chest)

If it was a large poo, then it often happens that a dog will burst a blood vessel, so spots of blood happen. As the others have said, providing she is bright and active then a watching brief is all that's called for. :)

Hi and thanks to you guys.

So this morning she was as bright as a button on the walk (as bright as an 11 year old with joint issues can be!!!)
Two offerings given - first not so bad at all; second quite loose but only tiny spots of blood.

Came home, chilled out, then breakfast...... which she threw up half an hour later.

We will starve, then rice and/or chicken only for next couple of days (might get some Chappie as we're out). She seems fine in herself so I'm just watching over as staing at home today rather than office.

Thanks again

Took a while but she got over it - we needed up going to the vets as it had gone on far too long.
Got anti-biotics and cleared up after a few days

Just got back from four days down the South Coast with her and her litle mischievious brother, she had a great time.

Thanks for asking
