Well ive just got him back from the Vets after his Xrays, the good news is his eblow and shoulder is fine, the bad news is he has HD in both hips but worse in his L hip, our vet has been great though, i cant thank him enough.

Dependant on the insurance company he'll be getting his shiney new hips in September as im off for the month.

really sorry to hear about Rolo.

Just out of interest, was it your own vet who said he needs a new hip or have you been to a specialist?. the reason I ask is their have been a few members on here who have been told there dog has HD but after seeing a specialist they haven't!!!

Charlie's specialist isn't far from you and is definitely 'THE' best man in the area
Let me know if you want details

I`m so sorry to hear Roly had HD, has the vet referred you to a specialist? or is he one himself, I say that because some HD can be managed without intervention and it would be worth getting it checked out to be sure.

Loving the pic of the two of you together :D

Rolo is 2 1/2, Its the Vet who has stated he has HD, and we worked as a consultant.

He said he has a nmber of specialists, one in Northampton and one in Liverpool, but we want the best we can afford.

Wendy, if you could send me the information it would be much appriciated

Charlie's specialist is called Graham Oliver.
His practice was at Buckley House in Hucknall, North Notts but he now has a new practice for referrels and MRI's etc. It's still in Hucknall but not at Buckley House (that's still Graham's but is now a 'GP' vets). It's on Nottingham Road and is called 'East Midlands Referral Ltd'.
The phone number is 0115 9274458

I honestly can't recommend them enough - good luck

oh no. Has he always had issues with his hips? 2 1/2 is quite old to be diagnosed isn't it?

I know Marie (mrsm) would second wendy's recommendation. Her choc bear Baxter has been treated by graham and his team and he's doing fab.

massive hugs to rolo

I thought that too Sam, that's one of the reasons he should see a specialist to get a proper diagnosis. It seems a bit odd that he's reached 2.5 with no problems and now his hips are bad enough to need replacing. Usually hips that are that bad show up much younger

Poor Rolo!

I was ready to zoom Luna up to Wendy's Graham if our new vet had thought she was having problems. (He didn't :D ) I wouldn't have thought it's too far away from you even without the blue lights!

Let us know how he goes. Luna was looking forward to having a run around with him in Sept :(

Our vet is going to ring Graham, as thats who he recommend!

The only issue we have now is that he thinks the insurance company may try and screw us over as he has been before with lameness in his back legs, but our vet is going to do what he can to sort us out :D

If anyone knows him, Paul Adams at Springwood vets in Burton on Trent, i HIGHLY recommend him!
