As some of you know Sam has had an operation this afternoon
the vet called to say that they had removed two lumps from his
abdomen, and he would call later after they had been to the lab.

He has just called and OMG it is not cancer, they were overies he
told us my boy dog is a hermaphrodite. 8O Have you ever heard of
this before?

Sam is still seriously ill, they were very close to his uretha (sp) and
is very weak. So we are just waiting to see how he is tomorrow, please
keep your fingers crossed for him.

Well I've never heard of it in a dog but I guess it's something that can happen in any mammal. Hope he's feeling better soon.

Well I never!!!! 8O

It happens in humans, so it probably does in dogs too, even if only rarely in both species.

I hope he feels better soon.X

I know about all sorts of genetic abnormalities ( comes with the job!) and although I admit having never heard about it in a dog, there's no reason it can't happen I guess. Very rare though.
Hope Sam makes a speedy recovery and will be home with you soon.

Never heard of it in a dog but as others have said, as it happens with us there`s no reason it shouldn`t with them.

I hope Sam is feeling much better and able to come home tomorrow :)

I have come across a hermaphrodite lurcher. She belonged to a veterinary nurse I used to know. Nobody had any idea until the bitch went in to be spayed and during the op they discovered testicles. These were also removed and she was fine.
Lots of healing vibes for Sam to make a good recovery }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
