Just come back from seeing the ortho specialist and he has confirmed she has HD in her left hip.
There is some movement in her right hip but we will be keeping an eye on that !!!!
I could see it on the X rays, i'm just numb at the moment my poor baby.
She is going in again on Thursday for her hip operation.
Thank heavens she is insured.
Will keep you posted

So sorry to hear this Christine, poor little Ella, wishing her all the best for Thursday. Is she having a total hip replacement or what???
My Lily had TPO ops on left and right hip in December and January and is now fast asleep beside me after having a lovely hours walk watching combines, tractors and rolling about in a freshly harvested field. There definately is life after being diagnosed with HD,people on here are proof of it.It seems the end of the world when you first find out but believe me you just sort of get on with it and whatever is put in your way you muddle through.Lots of people on this site have been through it and will offer advice and support.

Keep positive

Hi
thanks for your kind messages. Not quite sure what the op is called all i know is that he will be breaking her pelvis in 3 places and then tilting it so the ball of the hip can't pop out anymore !!! 8O
She is back to her normal self today and I just feel so guilty.
I have been so careful with the 5 min rule as they are prone to this but you do your best and nature takes over :x
i'm in south wales so Swansea is only 30 mins drive for me to take her to the specialist.

i'm going to take my son in with me on thursday that way i can't cry when i leave her :(
How have your pups coped with the post op period ? i'm lucky i have 2 small children so I am home all the time and only work 2 evenings, so someone is here with her at all time

Sorry to hear about poor Ella. What a terrible worry for you :( No first experience of HD myself, but I know from this forum that lots of dogs manage very well with this condition, so fingers crossed. I hope the surgery went well today.
