Millie and I are off to our first lesson tonight and it's a new completely new training school to me too. The one I have used before aren't doing obedience classes any more.

I have mixed feelings ATM, I have been working on her lead walking issues and recall since we got her 2 weeks ago and there has been a vast improvement. Fingers crossed that she is a good girl tonight.

Millies first training class went quite well. She was really well behaved and caught on very quickly to what she had to do.

One of the first things the triainer said was that Millie was fat, grrrrrrrrrrr  Everyone around here seems to think that unless a dog is as skinny as a greyhound then it is fat.

She was 29kg last week, she has a waist and I can feel her ribs without pressing. Perhaps she could lose a couple of pounds but she isn't massively overweight.

Take no notice - the vets told me Jack was too fat when we had him, when I got him down to the weight they recommended he looked ill - he just wasn't built to be small!!!
I'm glad to hear Millie is doing well. I have obedience classes again on Wednesday night.... where do you go to classes (pm me!)
Baxter had his second show on Sunday...... read my post - it will make you laugh

We were told at training 2 weeks ago to watch Max' diet as he was losing his waistline (aren't we all!) but I totally trust our trainers advice and did cut his food intake down and he's now got his waistline back.

Just need to sort mine out now (she says on her 3rd glass of wine).

How old is Max?? Our 6 month puppy Baxter eats like a horse and still seems to maintain his weight quite well.... he must burn it all off jumping around......... Maybe that's where we are going wrong!!! We're not 'jumping around' enough.....

Max is just coming up to 9 months and in all honesty we were overdoing his food intake and weren't cutting his food down enough to allow for treats when training (and I have been doing an awful lot of training with him due to him being quite naughty and wanting to get him back on track).

Looks like I'm going to have to start jumping around too which might not be a bad idea to try and get him to focus on me more.

Never realised lab ownership would be such hard work but I have to say I wouldn't change a thing and would definately not go back to being a dogless household.

That said, I'm not as houseproud as I was, mainly because I'm permanently kO*%kered

Sounds like Millie did well at obedience - great news.

Max's training regime sounds fun - maybe I should try it too!

I found it tricky working out what weight Wispa should be, but Labrador Rescue (the charity we adopted her from) were really helpful - I trusted their advice because they've seen a whole range of labrador sizes and body types.
