Not the nicest subject, but... :poop:

We seem to have narrowed it down, and think that Mabel gets really loose poops if she has had a swim during her walks (not straight away, but the same day). She no doubt drinks quite a bit of the water when doing a retreive as she will be swimming back with the dummy/ball in her mouth.

Is there any magic food item (rice maybe?) that we can add to her food either before or after she has had a swim that will help firm them up?

Cooked sweet potato or apple is advised for loose poos by some of the high protein dog food companies, haven't tried it ourselves though!

Thanks Swayze, sorry for taking ages to get back to you.

It turned out Mabel had picked up a bug and was put on antibiotics and a pro-biotic paste to get her back to her normal self.

We usually give her a kong with cooked and mashed sweet potato as part of her daily food intake, so hadn't wanted to give her even more in case that made her worse...
