Hi, We had to have our cornlands male black labrador put to sleep a while ago and are now looking for a cornlands male labrador puppy, my understand is that where they used to be bred no longer breed them and I've looked everywhere but it seems that they are no longer bred in the UK?

If that is the case then what would the closet bloodline or type of Labrador that would be the closet in size etc to a cornlands?

Any help/advice would be most appreciated as my knowledge of the different types of labradors is extremely limited.

Thanks

I believe James Hindley died this year, so sadly, with Peggy Rae gone I believe the kennel is now at an end. I think now your only choice is to look for something descended from Cornlands lines.

OK, It's against forum rules for me to post info on puppies here, but give me a little time and I'll see if I can give you some ideas. I'll PM you later with some names.

Angus McGregor at Cornlands

Just noticed this thread. Mrs Rae did indeed die in 2010, and James hindley and I have lived here since. I regret that probate was delayed for no reason and one and a half years after James died, Probate is still ongoing. I was james' partner for 22 years and I am still in grief but managing the Cornlands dogs. I wish to run the line on in their memory once a period of respectful grief and probate are sorted. I could not bear to see the breed I have known and loved for so may decades fall apart and in a short while I will update the website and put an announcement on it. So yes, Cornlands is still here and all the Dogs are being pampered. I am fully versed in what Peggy and James striuved for and will run it on a non commercial basis in their Legacy. From My Fair Lady to Wellington (still have his daughter) there is a lot of history and their dual purpose and affectionate nature still shines through. Sad news and so very unexpected with James. [email protected] is still there and I check it from time to time. Thanks, Angus

I'm so sorry for your sad loss. James was on Facebook, posting on Richard Edwards threads until very shortly before his death. It was such a shock to us all. I remember reading Mrs Rae's obituary in the LRC year book, at the time. Lovely to hear that the famous Cornlands name will be continuing.

Regards, John
