As some as you know I am a teacher, I teach reception (4-5year olds) and this week our learning objective in maths is "Understands, follows and uses everyday positional language (on, under, in, infront, behind and next to)". They are a pretty low ability class who have a very limited vocabulary so..I decided Willow could help!

First we have some videos...

Willow next to the box

Adter that I have taken photographs of Willow in various places for them to discuss in groups "Where is Willow?".

Then I have a collection of boxes and small toy dogs for the children to move and instruct themselves.
Finally we will the instruct some children to be one/in/ next to various things to see if they can understand, follow and use the vocabulary.

See, dogs are good educational tools!!

Well done Willow!!!
Coming soon, more learning with Willow.

Hmmm...maybe dogs should be part of the curriculum? They can teach so many things! English - as you've shown, Maths (how many balls does Willow have?), Colours (what colour is Willows collar?), and even about relationships and families!

Maybe one day you will be able to take Willow to meet your class? I bet they'd love that :) My sister teaches and Saffy has visited her school during the summer whilst we helped to clean and arrange the classroom. I'm not sure if animals are allowed to visit schools in term times these days though?!

:D Well Done Willow :D (and Clare :D )

As we know, Willow is a little "Therapy Doggy", she taught Philleas Dog about the Big Wide World so, with your help, she can easily teach children :D

Yes they are. Our school has five duckings which we hatched from eggs. They are going back to the farm 2morro 'tho.

Some schools have dogs which visit for the kids to read to.

The school down the road has donkeys, sheep and pigs - yes really!

What a super idea. When I was in my last year of primary school, my teacher brought his dog in every day, and that had always been the case. She used to sleep in her bed by Mr Marshall's desk. Her name was Delphi and she was a GSP.
