Hi all,my lab lennon is 6 yrs old and full of life,he has elbow dysplasia but with synoquin he leads a normal life.
Last week he started weeing in the kitchen overnight and really that was the only symptom, slightly lethargic and then after about 5 days didn`t really want to eat, after tests at the vet they said his temp was 40.5 and i`ve taken him to a specialist in newmarket, dick white referrals....So far the 1st tests haven`t revealed anything conclusive.he has slightly low neutrophils and his red cells and platelets are ok...Today the vet is taking fluid from inside the spine and bonemarrow where he thinks the problem is.....i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be and how many diseases from inside the bones can be treated..apart from lethargy and fever there is no diareoha or vomiting or lameness....hope someone could maybe speculate on various probs...thanks very much

Hi. Sorry to hear Lennon is unwell. I have heard great things about Dick Whites though, so if anyone can get to the bottom of this mystery, they will there.

I don't think it will do you any favours by us speculating really, as we could be wildly off target and just worry you all the more.

Put your faith in the vets at Dick Whites and I'm sure they will answer all your questions and more once they have the results back.

Of course when you get a diagnosis, you may find someone here with similar experiences and you can pick their brains then.

I hope it turns out to be something easily treatable and your Lennon is up and running in no time.

Thanks for the reply, you were right not to speculate it just gives false hope or tends to just worry.
Lennon started weeing indoors about 2 weeks ago,we didn`t think too much about it,not sure if it was lennon or henry..Also it was common to see a pile of grass or something in the kitchen where the little buggers had regurgitated it up...
We got lennon in last fri and usual bloods were taken,he came home but over the weekend he became quite lethargic, there were no signs of vomiting or loss of weight or appetite...we took him back on tues where his temp had gone up to 40 degrees. He was booked in for tues to have an ultrasound and check his organs, but when they found his temp had gone up they referred him to dick whites and i took him over tues afternoon, over the next two days he had all the tests and i was told weds that the blood cultures and ultrasound had come back with nothing conclusive so they`d be checking his bone marrow fluid and spinal fluid on thurs..Once i had looked things up on the cursed net i became quite worried and posted on here because of my concern..rightfully u did the right thing and didn`t comment,i guess as a worried owner you just want to be told something positive.....

Lennon was diagnosed with cancer of the spine which is very rare and not very treatable,i was told to think about what we wanted to do and certainly didn`t want him to be in pain.i was ringing back today to prob have him put to sleep and then pick him up later....i really struggled last night to decide whether to see him again and then be with him to go to sleep or just remember him for how he was 2 weeks before.i felt i`d be heartbroken to see him again and get him all excited but was going to see him again as felt this was right.....

At midnight i received a call to say lennon had past away in his sleep, the cancer had prob spread to his brain and stopped his breathing...
He was a beautiful boy full of life and always followed me everywhere and made me feel happy he was with me....

Even when i had such a heart breaking decision to make he made it for me.....i`ll miss him greatly.....

Oh I'm so sorry to hear your lovely Lennon has passed away. We love them with all our hearts and when they leave us, they take a bit of our heart with them.

He sounded like a smashing chap and you did all you could for him but in the end it was his time to go, so please don't be hard on yourself over this.

Run free Lennon....Forever young and playful. XXX

Really sorry to hear he has gone to the bridge.

At least it sounds as if it was quick and he didn't suffer.

My thoughts go out to you and your family.
