Even though i believe the raw/barf diet is the best way to go about feeding my dogs, im constantly looking at new foods, i want to know about them, how they work, how dogs react to them etc etc.
I have been working with cainan my male, to try and find something to put weight on him and decided two meals a day may do the trick and even though I think he's skinny, he's physical fit and extremely muscular and probably only needs to gain roughly 2, 3 pounds...
Today i was out buying a new collar for charlette when i noticed Petco had started carrying(IN STORE...some stores dont carry it, just online) Solid Gold! i was reading through the ingredience and i was really pleased with what i saw.
I was standing in front of the different types of solid gold for close to 30 minutes when i finally made my BF pick a flavor that everyone would like :)
I want to continue feeding barf and I know some people have great success with feeding kibble at one meal and barf/raw at the next.
I was wondering what your opinions on this would be?
I dont necessarily feel 100% ok with feeding both in one day, but i dont believe that if i did barf one day and switch to kibble the next and so on...would be the best way.
Will this cause infrequent stools?
Im hoping to have great success with it, but i just never know.
Thanks in advance!

It isn`t recommended to feed both types of food as kibbles are usually "complete" meals in themselves, that said I have been known to occassionally give Cindy and CJ kibble if I`ve forgotten to get BARF from the freezer for them but this wouldn`t be everyday.

Others may well feed as you want to and have no problems, hopefully they`ll post if they do :)

I am feeding Honey a tin of food or kibble in the morning and BARF for dinner. She is thriving. It's partly because my OH is up first and likes to feed her but can't stomach BARF, whilst I love to feed her raw meat and veg etc. She has never been so well. She has also lost weight and is much more spritely now, but I know it's not the purist way. Works for us, though.

I feed mine raw mainly but they have kibble once or twice a week too. It doesnt cause any problems and they and I are happy with their diet.

thanks guys for your input! I really appreciate it! We're going to try kibble this morning in small portions and continue with barf in the evening!

I feed mine Orijen for breakfast and raw in the evening. The orijen kibble is also useful when travelling or holidays so I don't have to carry raw meat and bones with me.

Orijen is classed as a BARF kibble so I don't feel that I'm compromising my raw feeding principles. It's produced in Canada.

Hope that helps!

Hi Patrick - where do you buy Orijen? I might try it on Honey if it's BARF kibble. Would be grateful for your advice, Mo

I order it from the Zooplus website. You get a 10% discount on the first order and a 5% discount on re-stocking.
