Well I've long been a fan of cold pressed kibble. First with Markus Muhle and then with Lukullus.

For a while now Mason has been suffering from Acne. The vet says as he was two he was a bit old to be getting it. He then picked up a ear infection which had my vet suggesting he had an allergy.

I had noticed that he was scratching more.

All this happened not long after I started giving him Salmon oil so I stopped using it but after a month he hadn't improved in the slightest. I then decided to change his food from MM who' main protein is chicken to a Lamb and Duck food.

He did improve but was still a bit itchy.

One night without thinking I gave him some pickings from a roast chicken and the next day he was very itchy.

Looking at the ingredients of his lamb and duck I noticed it also contained 'poultry fat'.

So the hunt was on to find food without chicken. This was a lot harder than I thought.
One brand had a flavour listed as Venison but when I checked the ingredients it was 26% chicken and 9% Venison.

Anyway to cut a long story short I have now joined the Millies Wolfheart club.

I've started him on Pork and Veg as this only has one meat protein and also has no Salmon oil listed.

If he appears to do well on it I'll introduce some Salmon oil to see if that affects him adversely. If it doesn't hen I'll know verities with added Salmon oil are ok.

One thing is he doesn't appear to enjoy MW as much as his cold pressed food.

Can I ask those who feed MW if you stick to the feeding guidelines or feed less?

Cola has been on MW since she was a small puppy. I have always fed just a tiny bit less than stated and she has always been fine. She is around 23kg and gets 280g a day. I occasionally put some warm water in hers so it makes a nice gravy. She loves her grub, she is currently on a mix of highland and countryside.

MW don't use any chicken in their foods. I also use their wet food occasionally, they will have some new foods out soon.

Hope Mason does well on it :)

I'm sure he will once he gets use to it. He would run to his cold pressed and eat it. With Millies he will leave it and eventually go and eat it.

He's 37.5kg and currently getting 400g a day. I was thinking af dropping that down to around 360g.

How old is he? Is he on the adult portion size?

Mine have slightly less than suggested (I think - but I haven't weighed it recently). I use either the salmon variety or the turkey one and find that it is heavier by volume than previous foods so I need about a cup full of MW compared with 1.5 cups of the previous food for the same weight.

Coco is allergic to chicken too so I know how difficult it is to find a chicken free food. There are lots of options with MW though so you should be able to find something suitable.
