I'm thinking of renaming Corbie - to Orinoco (as in the Womble - snores like him too having just gone onto the Wombles Website)!

Everytime we go on walks and he sees a piece of litter he has to pick it up - I try and make him leave it before I put my hand in to prise it out (banana skin, bike tyre innertube, etc... yuck)

Luckily he doesn't bring it all back to the house!

Anyone out there got a potential new womble recruit?!
:D

Have composed my own version of the Womble theme especially for the labs (i know, I should be working  )

Under trees, over hills a labrador finds,
All kinds of rubbish folks leave behind,
Straight in our mouths it goes,
And hide from our mums,
Anything from banana skins to old mouldy buns!
:p

Oh yes, that sounds like my dogs!! I once had a spaniel that even liked to collect anything that was floating in a pond or river! It always ended with wet dogs, wet owners, a lovely big pile of "stuff" and going in search of the nearest bin!

Oh... I meant to say... thanks for the Wombles link too... love them!!!

hi karen,
love your version of the wombles. one problem! ive got the dam tune stuck in my head and keep singing it.
max who is also a womble keeps giving me very funny looks especially when i had him dancing round the kitchen with me
maxie tends to "womble" in reverse. he first shreds any thing in his path and then try to pick up all the little pieces  looks quite funny, pick up one bit, drop two

Yep another womble here, in Shadow! Not for the litter, but Madame Charlez (spelling?) the chef, cos Shadow is always cooking up chaos!!

Thanks, I'll be humming the tune all night at work now!!

Cheers

Rufus is a womble. He has a knack of finding apple cores and chewing gum!

It can be quite embrassing when i'm walking him and someone comes over to stroke him and he's got a mouth full and them drops it all over their shoe

Guinness also loves litter, on his walk this morning he found an empty can of larger and carried it all the way home. Maybe I should change his name to Carling :)

Ha Ha...Scooby also picked up a lager can the other day and then a pop bottle but I drew the line when he dragged me to the river to look at the dumped fridge!!!

I think that Labradors should be employed by the council as Litter Control - we must be doing our bit for Keep Britain Tidy!

I have to agree with the Litter Control - I keep thinking I should get him to take a bag to put all of his rubbish collection in when we're out :D

Hey, maybe we could get a reduction in the council tax :x if we put our labs to good use?!!

Here's their anthem: (sung, again to the womble theme tune!)

Yellow, Black and Cho-co-late too

Hi,

Yes Ben is a womble too!! He picks up anything he can find on our walks! But his favorite is to try and take home the biggest branch he can find and drag it to the car in hope of fitting it in the boot!!!

Think Smudge is a womble candidate! Mind you, half the stuff he picks up, he has put there in the first place!

Thanks for the tune spinning round my head! lol! Great version Karen!

All the best,
Nicola.

Just read the "womble" posts and can't stop laughing! Can choc Lab Tally become a womble please? Her specialist area of knowledge is plastic drink bottles. She can sniff them out of a hedge at 50 paces and if they still have the lid on it's great fun to pull this off and run away thus giving Mum a heart attack about internal blockages, operations and big vet bills.

 They all seem to have their own expert field in the world of collecting rubbish

Everytime I now take Corbie for a walk the tune will be in my head....

Remember you're a womble
