:p On the subject of Pet Insurance - I just wanted to say - you get what you pay for! Always read the small print when signing up for a policy. Many people just buy a cheapie policy and when it comes to making a claim they are stung by small print rules. There are many common conditions which are not covered with cheapies so be careful. Pet Plan are propbaly the best - they are expensive yes but they pay out when the time comes and cover most conditions.
Marks + Spencers are doing some good deals at the moment.
Tell us which companies you guys use and how you have found them... :p

I decided not to use Pet Insurance and have instead a credit card that I don't use and have kept the balance free for emergencies.

That way if I need to I will use the credit card, if nothing happens I haven't spent all kinds of money on pet insurance.
