My sister was down for a long weekend and we went on a day trip to Jimmys Farm.

I was introducing Nellie to all the animals while Basil was getting his bum butted through the fence by an unamused goat when a lovely lady came over to fuss them both.

Turns out it was 'Gezza', Beetlebugs Mum, she 'recognised' my 2 from their names.

Has anyone else ever unexpectedly met another LF'er? :D

  That's funny!

Never met anyone on LF when out and about. I sometimes wonder when I meet a fellow lab owner if they are on LF so I say Corbie's name just in case

Not sure I would want to identify myself especially if mine's being a bit of a hooligan 8O

but if anyone hears me shouting for Paddy on Old Hunstanton beach and with a German Shepherd chewing on his neck, please feel free to say Hi

Ooo Yes I have met one LFer randomly. I was walking our woods when a little brown Lab with half a tail and only half it's ears came bombing towards me. I immediately asked if he was the pup who had lost his extremities due to getting frostbite in kennels and his owner looked puzzled and said Yes. I then explained I had been on LF when he had posted about it a couple of years earlier, which was how I knew him. I've not seen him since though, even though we don't live that far apart.

I do often look and wonder if anyone with a Lab is an LFer and call my girls names, as no one else would have a Mojo, Pickle and a Pood would they.

I met someone at a French dog show at Limoges, totally randomly, who had "come across" me on one of the frenchlife forums I used to visit! She came up to me and said "Are you Maddogwoman?" (Where Maddie comes from) I nearly fainted!

That thought did cross my mind too. Luckily it was just the goat that was the hooligan and Basil wasn't battering an eyelid at it :)

Nope

I think that's why Geri thought it was a safe bet that I was from LF, there can't be many Basil and Nellie black labs together.

Not long after Charlie had both his hips replaced my OH was at the park with him. A guy with a yellow lab heard Dave calling Charlie and this guy said ' is that THE Charlie from labrador forums' 8O 8O 8O
Turned out he was a lurker who had followed Charlie's story and recognised him from his photos

The guy now has another yellow lab, and we do sometimes see him - so Ron, with Buddy and Barney - get joining!!!!

I am pleased you posted about jimmy's farm as I don't live far away an thought good place to take kids over the holidays but wasn't sure if dogs were allowed. Can you take dogs everywhere there?

I haven't - I don't think there are many LJ Forum members living near me.

I did have a funny moment the other day, though. A chap knocked at the door, and was doing the rounds publicising karate classes that were starting locally. I politely said we weren't interested, and then Ruby (who was out of sight in the kitchen) started barking. The man said 'oh, is that a labrador?' I was amazed at his ability to tell her breed from her bark! I said yes, and obviously looked puzzled, and he replied 'ah, I saw the 'Labrador Forum' sticker on your car rear window'.

Doh!

Anyway he said he sometimes reads the forums, so if you're lurking Mr Karate Man - hello, and I'm sorry if I seemed rude, but I was in the middle of something when you knocked!

 @ Mr Karate man!

Yep Lauras right you can take them everywhere (on leash). Nellie got to meet roaming sheep, turkeys, peacocks, chickens and then saw pigs, ferrets, guinea pigs, goats etc through the fencing :)

There's a little nature trail too.

Ness (scubabe) met Liz with Kaya at a gundog training class when i was last down there at easter. But we didnt realise it at the time! We actually thought the lady to the left of us was from LF as she had a Pumpkin and Pudding (there is an LF member with these names) but it turned out we were looking the wrong way and Liz was standing on our right! :D
