We have booked a few UK breaks this year, all taking Max with us. I was thinking of taking a travel insurance policy out to cover multi-trips in the UK, and wondered if anyone is aware of policies that cover cancellation if a dog falls ill?

I'm guessing there will be limited policies if any? As with many dog owners, we have planned our trips on the basis of taking Max, therefore if he was poorly, there would be no way we'd go.

Guess I should also speak to JL who we have his insurance with?

Thanks in advance,
Mandy x

Holiday canx is usually only considered for life threatening conditions

Pray god that doesn't happen.

It will be detailed in the jl policy handbook though

Hi, thanks for that. I spoke to JL - we have their top level of cover - and it does include holiday cancellation, but as you say for life threatening illness only. They said if a dog eg, broke a leg, that wouldn't count - even if the sole reason for booking the UK holiday was to take your dog for some running around on the beach. I guess they have to draw the line somewhere, but they don't accept that dogs are a part of the family for most of us :(
