Roxy has been to the vets today for xrays on her hips etc due to her limping and struggling after long walks etc.

I thought that it would be hip dysplacia given her breed etc and symptoms. But she has a dodgy pelvis. Her pelvis is at an angle when she looks perfectly positioned. Her sacrum is malformed and she has osteophytes on part of her lower spine :(

She has hip dysplacia in her right hip, but her left is fine.

The next stage now is for an MRI at Willows which we are organising for a few weeks time, then physio to strengthen her pelvis & hydrotherapy.

I'm so upset for her as it means she will no longer be able to retrieve her ball on land, only in water. She is only 4 :(

I hope after the scan they can give you advice on how to go forward. I am so sorry Roxy has these problems, but best of luck in finding a way to manage it.

I can only imagine how you are feeling and feel so sorry for you

That hideous pit of the stomach agony I felt a few weeks ago when Judy was diagnosed with ED will live with me forever.....BUT!!! I took inspiration from people on here and even more from Hudy herself. She's just come back from her second hydro session and really seemed to love it this time, was a bit windy about the 1st one

I wish you all the best with recovery, be strong and keep being a great owner!!!

I'm sorry to read that :(
It's always so difficult when we find out they're ill. I hope she'll have good live anyway. Good luck at Willows - they're great; they took really good care about Barney.

Thank you everyone ! She is so stiff tonight I presume thats from them manipulating her legs whilst she was under anaesthetic for the xrays. Shes very whiney too :(

Yep I've heard very good things about the Willows- we shall just take each day as it comes. She is on her joint supplements anyway and I was giving her Metacam when I felt she was more creaky than normal- but now we are giving it every day so its in her system.

Once we have found out what we are dealing with she will have physio & hydro - which im sure she will love as she loves the attention on her and water- so it will be her dream.

Ripley is being VERY calm around her since we got back- he must sense she is feeling off colour.

Hi Nicky, so sorry to hear about Roxy.
I'm glad you've been referred to a specialist as you will get the correct advice for any treatment needed.

I just wondered why you had chosen the Willows to go to as I think EMR is probably nearer to you and as you know, there are several LF members who have had fantastic treatment for their lab's hips, elbows and spinal problems.

Good luck, keep us posted
