Lots of advice online says to leave the crate open during the day and make it a fun place sign food and snacks and then once he’s happy with the crate start to close the door. But if you’re doing that in the day times where does the dog sleep at night?

We adopted a 6 month puppy a week ago. We put him in a crate at night and he cries and cries and barks for a good hour before eventually giving in. He gets told no - and to help reduce anxiety my husband is in the room with him at the mo. It feels so mean to let him cry like that. Is there another solution or are we doing something wrong or do we need to stay firm and give it time?
I’m starting to dread bedtimes...

Thanks!

You’ve just got to persist. You could try leaving a radio on. I always feed my pups very last thing and they nearly always flaked out.
