My murphy is 4 months and an aggressive chewer, we got nylabones as we heard that rawhides, pig ears are unsafe. But murph wont chew the nylabones covered them in marmite as advised, got chicken flavour, no turned his nose up, edibles last 5 minutes, so out of desperation when he chewed the skirting board, we got hima calcuim bone which he loves, and a steralised marowbone which we fill with ham or chicken. Does anyone know ways of encouraging labs to chew the nylabones do you think he knows their fake bones. Also he loves eating grass, but no tummy upset
any advice please Pen

Hi max is the same when it comes to nylabones. He is 5 months today and doesn't show any interest in the nylabone chews and the edible chews are destroyed in minutes... any suggestions and advice welcomed... please...

Ours don't see the attraction of Nylabones either. It did help though when I nicked the surface a few times with a knife to emulate one that had been a bit chewed, then smeared peanut butter into the score marks...

The best thing we ever did was buy a kong though. You can fill it with all sorts of things, and once they've got the hang of getting easy food out, you make it progressively harder - awkward-shaped biscuits, or something like a mixture of egg and cheese and carrot - microwaved inside the kong (keep it upright by putting it inside a mug), then frozen. Lasts for AGES....

A puppy nylabone was Corbie's favourite - for about a day and that was it! now he never touches it. I wondered if the so called flavour wears off really quickly or something?

Corbie loves his kong - we use a cheap sandwich paste (chicken or beef) and spread that thinly on a slice of bread and then stuff the kong tight with the bread and he loves it!

Corbie's favourite at the moment are ice cubes - he even knows the word! He'll chase them round the wooden floor and eat them. We've even started to make bigger ones for him!

max loved his first nylabone but since then doesnt wany to know. he does love his steralised bone and will knaw on that for ages especially if it got a bit of marmite on it.
yes karen max goes potty for ice cubes even more when the toothy pegs are pushing thru. i also put an old bowl out side, fill it with water and then add ice cubes. its the doggie version of apple bobbing!

Hi thanks for the tips, Murphy smurpy loves his ice cubes on our wooden floors, we did a knog filled with egg etc frozen kept him busy for a few minutes will try the bread idea and freeze it. He has a calcuim bone which is safe it dissolves in chewing so no bits and its good for teeth, we cut up the nylabones smeared them with marmite, after marmite was licked off not a chew. Going to tesco and buying spread, peanut butter and bananas, we going to try apples for fun, got biscuits stuffed them in the knog, crafty devil shoke them till they all fell out. We have a trainingball stuffed with treats but not good for chewing Thanks for the advice Penny
