Hi everybody,
We've had Beau for nearly a week now and we get lots cuddles and kisses from our little girl. It's only dawned on me this morning about the danger of catching worms from her. she is currently taking a course of worming treatment which has now finished but we have still have had contact with before the treatment started. Can anybody give me any information about catching worms from puppy? I have read the section about worms, but id like know if it's possible to catch worms with just general contact with her?
Thanks a lot.
Matt.

Hi LabMad

I'm pretty sure dogs can pass on intestinal round worms and hook worms to humans but I don't think it's a huge concern. The eggs need about 2 weeks to be infective, they are generally in the feces and the soil in the toilet area, and they need to be ingested, so I think as long as you clean up the toilet area regularly and be sure you wash your hands you'll be fine. :-D
