So I have been leaving Daisy with the big dogs at night... all well and good until this morning. She had been busy in the night...chewed up some beading and also had climbed the dresser and knocked things over and moved anything that was small and chewable. Also had a wee and a poop this morning.
Yes I have had three nights good sleep but she IS going back in the crate tonight me thinks.

Oh dear Daisy, you're certainly going to be in the doghouse after that  She was obviously lulling you into a false sense of security, Claire, little tinker.

My first thought when I read this..... "are you sure, really sure it was Daisy"
Definitely Daisy as she climbs across the crate onto the dresser - caught her at it the other day. The others would never be able to balance on the crate- and she had the piece of beading on the sofa chewing it when I came down.
I feel so upset with her this morning :(

Send her to me. I specialise in Nawty Puppies  .

this is the first pup that has made me wonder if I did the right thing.
That was my Mojo in a nutshell. The tears of frustration I cried over that pup. But, and it's a big BUT, she turned out to be the BEST dog ever :D ; so desperately loyal, so obedient, truly my soul mate. I think I had to prove I was worthy of such love and devotion, so she tested me to the limit to start with. Maybe this is what Daisy is doing with you. 8)

Our second lab, Rivka, was my what have I done dog, she chewed walls, took an age to house train and was into everything. She became a lovely biddable girl and very loyal. The first pup, Elsa, was perfect so a bit of a hard act to follow, she was my once in a life time dog and still talked about at our dog club where she was known as the boss.

They like to test us :)

We left Humphrey not crated last week and he was perfectly behaved and has been when he's not been crated at night, but this morning I also woke up to destruction in my bedroom (how I slept through it I don't know) he has chewed some skirting board, my sheet, and the felt things off my matress which removing the sheet exposed! It's a bit if a shock to the system since the only thing Saffy ever chewed was our leather recliner when she was 10 weeks and one of my ugg boots before that, other than that she has been perfectly behaved in the house with no accidents or anything!

You'll get there! If the crate is already in the room with the big dogs I can't think of any other set up. Maybe get her off to sleep in the crate whilst she knows you're there before heading up to bed? Hopefully that'll buy you at least a few hours of decent sleep?!

Good luck!

No thanks - I already have one!

Cooper did not want me to sleep last night. Cried in his cage but only wanted to play if let out. I had an important exam this morning, so it really wasn't the day (night) for him to misbehave! Anyway, despite a very short night, I passed my test, so he is my friend again.

I swear that if Dolly had been my first lab she would have also been my last...she's a whirling dervish!

She's always been crated, good at night etc, but last week thought she'd have a go at the skirting board  I take one look at that cheeky face and wagging body (never just the tail) and all is forgiven....I'm a pushover

Good Luck
:)

Lack of sleep is horrible - I remember it well when my son didn't sleep through the night until he was 12 months!

Whereas I have been really lucky with my canine girlies. They were so good and the worst we had was over within a couple of days of their arrival.

I hope she starts behaving soon !!

It took 5 yrs to get my eldest to sleep through the night, so yep, I understand the lack of sleep thing too. It's horrid. :(

I hope she comes good soon. Mojo was 14 weeks old before I cracked it with her, so tell Daisy she hasn't got to try to beat Mojo's record, ok

I think it might be the name. My Daisy likes to climb things too, although she's not destroyed much, mostly cardboard/paper. She has bedding on top of her crate as well as inside it.

Mins was an angelic puppy, truly. Daisy was like the Lab puppy I had expected Mins to be.

One day, when you no longer need eyes in the back of your head, when it doesn't take you three times as long to do something as simple as washing up, when you don't find yourself falling asleep in the dog bed in the kitchen with a puppy in one arm and a cup of coffee in the other hand, you'll realise how utterly in love you are ... and wonder how you ever managed without your beautiful Daisy. I did.
