I have been following the Canine Confidence advent calendar and in today's clip
there were some good suggestions for entertaining your dog - we already use a bun tin as a slow feeder (tennis balls were too high value to use it as a puzzle). So I decided to make the snuffle mat and the dogs love it.

If you watch the video above on you tube then click on the poster's name you can view the rest of her videos, some give training tips, others show how to do various T-Touch massages. I have been following these for the last couple of years and Janet talks a lot of sense. All the videos are very short so they aren't difficult to watch.

ETA Sorry, but for some reason photobucket doesn't let me upload videos any more. If you click on it there is a message to say I have retitled the image (I haven't). Grrr!

Thanks Pam!

It's been a while since I made use of the recycling in that way - my pups are less demanding nowadays so I forget to make the small effort! - and I want to make a snuffle mat NOW!!!!

My two love it and shop bought slow feeders and dog games are so expensive.

I would think you probably need two large fleece blankets to make a full mat. I think they are only £2-£4 at Ikea so around £10 for the snuffle mat and you still have a door mat when you have done with it.

Well I've ordered a mat from amazon and have loads of fabric of all types in a drawer that can be chopped up. Will let you know the results!

What mat did you order from amazon? I just looked and couldn't find one that I thought would do the job?

I just copied the link to the video that Janet had posted on youtube and it automatically puts the video in the post. My own videos on photobucket don't seem to work anymore on here, though they still work on facebook.

I got a Diall honeycomb mat from B&Q (£5) http://www.diy.com/departments/diall-black-rubber-door-mat-l700mm-w400mm/262197_BQ.prd I was in the store anyway for something else.
That looks perfect. Will get one of those. I found a good link to instructions : http://thecrazydogmom.com/2015/02/24/diy-snuffle-mat/

We'll see if this does the same. I was viewing in You Tube, did Control & C on the address bar, then Control and V into this post.

It doesn't show in the preview, it only comes up once you view the post.

It worked and it doesn't have all the coding at the top this time either. Maybe I copied the link from facebook last time.
