Hi, Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I did a search but couldn't find anything.
We are looking at 2 x potential litters, with the parents hip / elbow scoring as follows:

Dog 1 Hip 3/4 Elbow 1/1
Dog 2 Hip 6/3 Elbow 0/0

I checked the EBV's and for Dog 2 they are both low, but for dog 1, whilst the hip score is low, the elbow score is slightly above the mid point.

Q1 - Should I avoid dog 1's pups?
Q2 - Is the hip and elbow scoring a one off test like the DNA testing, or should it be updated like the BVA/KC/ISDS tests?

Thanks in advance.

The recommendation is that people do NOT breed from any dog with an elbow score above zero.

Yes, hips and elbows are a one off test, as are DNA tests. The thing about eyes is that it is a visual check so the tester can only see whats actually there, and like human eyes, things can develop over time. Cataracts for example may not be visible until a dog reaches 6 to 8 years old.
