Daphs I feed my two raw bones about 2-3 times a week, and they are kibble fed usually. We have no adverse effects whether they are given fresh or frozen. Frozen do last much longer (as Tarimoor says)

halle07 Give them the bones . Bruce was champion with his but Finn was going at it like he hadn't been fed in a week so I took it away then five mins later he was sick .
It must have given him the taste first though . Took them for a walk and Finn caught a rabbit . I then had a traumatizing twenty minutes trying and failing to get him to drop it because I was too squeamish to get hold of it and take it off him . I'm really disappointed in myself now for being such a girl
This boy keeps me on my toes

DJGoody "Dont eat them in one go..." -- For Gawds sake dont tell Judy that! She'll have your hand off!!!

Our local butch was asked for a bone by myself last Saturday after I'd spent silly money on some wagyu steak. He came back with something that looked prehistoric and longer than a baseball bat. he kindly cut it up into 5 pieces which Jude has had two of so far, rest in the freezer with one coming out later to defrost so she can have tomorrow after we've been hydro.

If they arent used to them then defo have a brief introduction. You cant beat a raw treat!

Tarimoor He might be able to eat quite a bit of it in that case, red meat can be a bit rich first time round, particularly if they get to the marrow. Some are absolutely fine with the occasional raw bone, but others can have a bit of a rummy bum.

halle07 I think they are beef ribs looking at them . There's a little bit if meat and fat on them but not a lot

Tarimoor You can give them a go, but supervise, and don't let him finish it in one sitting, let him have it for half an hour and then bag and freeze, and let him have it as an occasional treat to have a nibble on. I forgot to ask, what sort of bones? If big marrow bones, this is what I'd do, if smaller bones they may just eat them all, but you may have a bottom explosion if they're quite rich/fatty.

raw bones

I've just been to the butchers and he asked me if I wanted a couple of bones for the dogs . I've said yes but now I'm a bit unsure in case they gobble them down took quickly .
Is it safe to give a non raw Fed dog the occasional raw bone ?
