Default Pet insurance and Giardia

We've recently had Holly our 12 week old Lab, to the vets as she had the runs, the Vet treated her for Giardia. I'm in the process of setting up some pet insurance and the website is asking if Holly has had any treatment for illness or injury. Should I mention the Giardia?

If you don't, and if ever they get back to your vet and they find out you will lose the insurance and the money you have paid. It needs to be reported as a pre existing condition. Insurance companies are renound for wriggling out of anything they can, which is the reason I wont pay for it. I put the premiums in a bank account and pay the bills myself. That way I'm not paying the wages for the insurance employees, or for their offices, profits and dividends paid to shareholders, or for the huge bills submitted to the insurance by hypochondriacs. (I'm not saying that all large bills are the result of hypochondriacs, but many are. One owner once told me that she had been to her vet yet again, and her vet had said, "Mrs ********, please take your dog home, she's fitter than you are!" )

But saying that, was the puppy not insured by the breeder for so long before you brought her? If so then that should cover it.

John, thanks for your reply.

Holly came with 4 (possibly 5) weeks free insurance, but I wasn't planning on making a claim for the Giardia. Ijust wasn't sure if I should mention the giardia, but you make a valid point about insurance companies finding reasons to wriggle out of any possible future payment.
