I know that winter is slowly passing but i have just read about these in my camping and caravaning magazine and wondered if anyone had an experience of them. http://www.leuchtie.co.uk/
I often walk early in the morning or late at night when it is dark and at the moment i have no lights on my 2 and luckily they never roam to far in the park. I used to have polybright collars but i seem to have mislaid them. These look very bright and i might give them a try.
Yes I have one. They are fab. Very bright, and very long lasting. My one has been used all winter and still going strong (no battery changes). I like the fact it runs off normal duracell batteries rather than those harder to find little disc things. It's been swimming with the dogs, pulled and chewed by two staffies and still, absolutely perfect.
The downside is the cost at apprx. £30. I looked at stocking these for a shop of mine (staffie one) and did some research and no one I spoke to wanted to pay over £15 no matter how hard I sold it to them
Thanks for the info, yeah the price is high but if they last it'll be worth it. I've tried loads of different collars, i started with ones from PAH for about £8-10 and they didn't last long at all. The plastic coating around the light cracked and split after a few weeks making them useless.
The polybright ones i had last were good but i saw these and wondered if they were worth a go.
these look fantastic... what i like most is that they're waterproof... i'd definately buy one for alfie if i walked him in the dark often enough to make it worth spending that money but i rarely do :? I have a £1.99 light up collar which i got in a sale and they work fine for what i need.
Just did a search on these collars as I'm being very organised and getting one lined up for winter (as I was buying some other stuff at the same time), just wanted to know what sort of size people have been using?
Milos' head measured 53cm, so I ordered the 55cm one which came up huge! I've just swapped it for the 50cm, and that slips on very easily but gapes quite alot at the sides, especially if he has his nose to the floor, not sure if the 45cm would be ok or if it would be too small, so wondered what others who have them are using?
I haven't ordered mine yet, i think the mornings got lighter and i didn't need them. Thanks for reminding me i will order mine soon ready for winter. The 15% off is good aswell
Haven't used them personally but I am seriously considering getting one when it gets darker again. Sam's friend who is an older choccie lab with dodgy hearing has one - her owner loves it - he says she's impossible to find in the park or fields in the winter as she blends in too well otherwise!
Good to know they run off duracell batteries
Helen - I LOVE the happystaffy shop its fab - really good looking site with fab products only trouble is I could easily spend a fortune, not got a staffy but I figured if the toys were staffy-proof they'd probably be sammy-proof!
What sort of size is Milo? Tess is very small only 21kg so i am guessing, without measuring yet, that i may need to get a smaller size than i think.
The website does mention that the size of the collar is 3cm more than the measured/advertised size. I presume so it goes over the head with ease. so i may take a few cm off what i measure when i order. I don't really want to buy it and lose it first lime out.
Milo's 34kg's but he's very tall and lean. The collar does have a little canvas clip to hold it in place, but it doesn't look as sturdy as the collar itself. It does fit easily over his head, but I think the 45cm will probably be a bit tight....I think I'm going to persevere with the 50cm, as he's 14 months and there's a chance he could fill out some more yet, I think I might just have to look into getting something more sturdy to hold it in place. :? Light looks fab though
I measured, many times over and followed the guide but they are still a little bigger than i'd like (ie Basils has a 50 and Nell a 45 but Nells collar fits Basil better than his own).
However, we don't use them for walks and although they hang loose i'm pretty sure there'd have to shake a lot and hard to lose them.
We use ours for bedtime wees in the garden (the dogs disappear into darkness at the bottom of the garden otherwise). I like that they just quickly pop on and off, easier than a clip collar.
it's quite funny watching the moving lights around the garden and when we first got them both dogs stood in a mexican stand off at each other as if to say ' wow what's that light around your neck '
Got mine from Hi-lost webby and they arrived very fast
Never used them on mine because of the price (I tend to just stick to the hi-vis vests), but I do drive past some dog walkers in the evenings on a dark lane who use them. So, speaking as a driver, they are pretty good and can be seen for quite a distance.
Well they have arrived this morning and i'd managed to get the sizes right so it's so far so good. They look really good and can't wait for it to get dark tonight to try them out.
I know i started this thread 8 years ago but i thought i would just update that i still have, and use the same 2 collars i bought after the recommendations from this thread. We have been through a few sets of batteries between then and now but they are still going strong so the £30 price tag was certainly worth it.
Wow! That's good going, and quite a recommendation!
