I can only say that that I had some real problems with our Frank when he first was adopted, because he would do well on a certain food, and then all of a sudden he'd have bad tummies. So we'd switch, he'd settle again for a couple of months, and then off we go again, the same cycle.
In desperation in the end I put him on Chappie and left him on it for a good year. He was 2.5 at the time. When I eventually took him off it and put him on Burns, we had no repeats for almost 8 months, and then suddenly the cycle started again. However this time, it settled much more quickly.
I would leave your pup on Chappie, it will do him no harm at all - if Jill comes along and posts, she's had dogs on it all their lives and they've always maintained a good weight and condition. If it works; then it works for your pup , and John is right - you do far more damage by constantly jumping from food to food, because by then his stomach will be so out of whack he'll react to everything.
