Default Anyone got one of these crates ??

Hi

Am just about to buy a crate having being convinced about how great they are from all the posts I've read ! Has anyone bought one of these "Dogit" ones from Petplanet (apologies if this link doesn't work - I'm hopeless when it comes to stuff like this). Would be good to hear your views as to be honest I'm a bit bewelidered by the choice !

http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product_g...=149&pg_id=253

Thanks , Lexi

PS Just want to say how great this site is ....OH thinks I'm addicted but I've picked up soooo much info !!!

...My Oh thinks i am addicted to, but, unfortunately although he is a man and usually wrong, he is...well, right.

The crates you show are perfect. Buy one big enough for when your lab is a big fella or girl so to save the 'kiddied shoe buying senario' of one pair this month, that they rapidly grow out of and need another pair next term!

I have one for Topsy, my cocker spaniel. I bought it from Petplanet and it is as good as any as far as I can see.

I had a large Rosewood one for Charlie when he was younger. It was a lot more expensive, though.

Looks good..... would probably go for the large one if it was me. Pippa's crate is 42", she did have a smaller one but grew out of it after about 1 month.

I`m with the others, its a nice crate but youll need a larger one unless your willing to buy another at a later date.

CJ has a 48", but a 42" would have been plenty big enough for him.

I think you could also get them cheaper on Ebay and just as good quality

Thanks for the speedy advice - will definitely go for a 42" one. Just seen these on e-bay (from PetEurope) - a bit cheaper & look pretty good.

By the way, what do I put on the floor - some Vetbed or maybe one half Vetbed, half newspaper ? Do I leave a water bowl in there or is that asking for trouble !!

vet bed on the floor is good. nice and comfy.

we didn't bother with newspaper as we decided to get up in the night for first week or so and never encouraged him to go in the crate or let him get to the point we he left he had to.... and he never did

water bowl - we left his in their but limited the water in it in case he needed a drink... but if he knocked over he wouldn't get too wet and if drank it all wouldn't need a wee!

hope that helps

I agree, vet bed is good, you might want to put him in a smaller box in the crate at first, it's a big space for a little guy.
I also put water but just a little as Nudge was a paddler!
Have just measured our crate and it is the 42" one. Plenty big enough.

Very similar to the one that I got Jess, but Jess' had a small 'cushioned' bit in it to lie one - what a godsend, especially when they are small!
