Default Henry's First Week

A week already and things are going really well... but there's time yet.

He is a fast learner. He knows his name, what 'come on, this way' means, where the garden is. And importantly - the word 'NO!'
His confidence is growing. He takes himself into the garden and goes to the door when he wants to go (I watch him from the door).
He has not poo'd in the house at all but there have been a couple of wees.
He is eating well, now on 80grms three times a day, plus treats and he knows to go into his crate for his food.
Night times are good, he sleeps through most of the night and knows to go outside as soon as he wakes, even if it is 3.00am
He is now used to his collar but wearing a harness and lead will take a bit longer. When he is older and big enough he will be on a slip lead.

The cats are tolerating him if he leaves them alone, most are back but one runs off as soon as she sees him.

Hollie is coming round to the idea of having a pup in the house and lets him lie close up to her - sometimes. Other times it's a doggy 'NO!' from her.
Henry is fastened in his crate (den) when I take Hollie for her walk and 'time out'.

Now for some pics....

I didn't mention biting and chewing.

It's too early for him to do any damage but I am concentrating on getting him to chew his toys and not my fingers and furniture, etc. This is where the 'NO!' training mainly comes in before the chewing becomes serious in the next months.
He has a fascination for labels, tags, tassels and boot laces. He has rope toys and puppy chew rings and these are substituted for 'NO!' things. We're getting there - slowly.
He wants to know why most things are called 'NO!' and only a few thing are 'good boy'.

I tried him with a carrot straight from the fridge which he enjoyed playing with but I ended up with lots of little bits of carrot all over the floor.
Hollie has her own carrot which doesn't last long but she will not touch anything puppy has had so she won't pick his bits up.

In the garden there are the usual hazards, plants to chew and bite, sticks and stones to carry. Again a lot of it is 'NO!'. As his confidence grows he is exploring the garden and is delighted to find a cat hiding in a bush, the cat isn't too pleased though.

Now it's time to put his collar on and go for a walk and get some energy release.

To be continued...
