Default Bad Luna news :(

I'm afraid I have bad news to share (along with these pics from yesterday's walkies in the sun).
Found a nasty lump on Luna's rib last Friday at physio. Saw the vet a few hours later and she confirmed it was likely to be nasty. Graham Oliver from East Midlands Referrals was on the phone within the hour having spoken to the vet. He offered to CT scan and do surgery during his Xmas break as it was Luna needing it. <3 We headed across this afternoon and the CT scan showed metastatic lung cancer as well as bone cancer in the rib, no surgery can help.

Luna is adamant that she is absolutely fine, of course. She's eating, drinking, playing, running, stealing food, waggledancing, looning, swimming, controlling the house as usual. Her pain relief will be upped and Graham took the opportunity of the GA to inject Arthramid into her elbows to give them a helping hand while she enjoys the time she has left. I can't think of anything left to go on her bucket list TBH so we'll just concentrate on fun and treats until the time comes. <3

Tuck and I are doing our best to be as brave as she is. xx

Thinking of you Laura. Life seems so unfair sometimes, but think of the wonderful life you have had together. Those memories will never leave.

Gutted

Absolutely gutted.

You've supported so many on here and Luna has been, and continues to be, such an inspiration for countless dogs and their two legged slaves.
I actually think Luna became my internet love!

I'm afraid I have no other words apart from thank you from the bottom of my heart and may the time be wonderful and as long as possible

Good luck

X

Gutted to read this. The Loon has had a cracking life with you, if I was reincarnated as a Labrador, your home would be at the top of my wish list!

Lots of love to you all and may there still be lots of happy days to come. This fat lady ain’t sung yet!

So far today Luna has
-rested
-grabbed cat poop
-demanded I get up out of bed, feed her, give her my spot on the sofa
-looned and bounced around like a 9 month old pup
-had a 20min pootle around the block grumbling and dragging her feet on the way home because it was too short an outing
-jumped on/off sofa
-played with gingerbread man toy
-had a short game of mouthy with Tuck then me
-grooming nibbled me because I smelt of the family I'd been out for a meal with, got told off for not taking her with me and had little niece's yoghurt cleaned off my clothing (she'd eaten it with her hands - 17months old!)
-toileted and eaten normally

I feel like yesterday was a nightmare I've woken up from! - she is an inspiration!!

Thank you for the lovely words.

Oh I’m absolutely gutted to read this about lovely Luna. As others have said, you’ve helped and comforted so many on this forum... Luna sounds like she’s taking it all in her stride and is wondering what all the fuss is about! Long may her comfort and playfulness continue. She’s in great hands with you in charge and I do so hope whatever comes next for you both greets you with as much easement and as little pain as possible. Lots of love to you all
