Default its a minefield out there

I am looking for some advice please. My girl is 9 months old now and when we got her (2 months ago) she was fed on Gusto which was no good good for her at all, she was underweight and her coat was in terrible condition. I have been feeding her on tails.com food for a couple of months. She is happy on the food (always hungry but then she is a lab), her coat is looking good and to be honest she is thriving on it....... but I have been reading that the food is mostly filler. I am considering changing her over to something else, but I have a budget of no more than £30 to feed her (tails cost me £28). Can anyone let me know about what they feed their dogs on. She is very active but is totally a pet. I started looking but got myself totally bamboozled by all the information.

There are many good foods out there that won’t break the bank. Is your £30 budget per month?

I use millies Wolfheart for my two girls. One is on a food that is £54.99 a bag and the other is £48 but each bag lasts just over two months so would be well within your budget if your budget is monthly.
They also do other foods that are cheaper per bag

I have Inca on Skinners Field and Trial, you donít pay VAT on it. I order Incaís online cause nowhere close to me stocks it, I normally either get her duck or salmon in a 15kg bag which is under £30.
With Kaiser I have him on James Well Beloved (did try to get them both on the same food in the past but it didnít work out). JWB can be expensive for a 15kg bag but I just buy the 7.5kg bag for £27.99 which lasts Kaiser for just over a month

We have Judy on BETA Senior with all the glucosamine etc

Cooper is on Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Junior

We have also tried to ensure they get other natural foods as much as possible with marrow bones from the butcher and lot's of carrots also being on the menu.

£30.00 a month should be an adequate budget for a decent food - pays to shop around.

So in other words, you'd like another food but one that she responds to as well as the one she is eating now?

Hi hubba64, I looked at tails previously and decided not to buy as it is full of fillers. I like Arden Grange, plenty of choice and to suit different budgets. Main ingredient is meat/fish. You can buy 2 x 12 kg bags starting from £50 on swellpets. Another one I like is Step Up To Naturals chicken and fish, sold in pets at homes. £23.50 for a 14 kg bag. I agree that it can be a minefield

We feed our two labs on Akela Fish Feast. The bags come in various sizes, the biggest is 10kg at £40 but that would last one dog for a month with a small bit to spare. I know it is slightly aboye your budget, but they do deals for 3 bags and you get £5 off. We live on an island, so we buy in bulk, 9 bags plus treats, the postie must dread our order!

We have Lola on Wainwrights. Its 30.99 for a 15kg bag. We mix in a tablespoon of wet wainwrights in as she's a fussy bugger!
We did have her on Tails but she ended up very hyper
