The bags I get are all airtight.

I can only think it would be for ventilation purposes, but don't know why they'd need to do that?

I have just checked my 12kg and 4 kg bags and none of them have holes in them.

Thank you both. That deepens the mystery somewhat!

I'll give our next 2 x 12kg delivery a close inspection and report back. I'll get over it if it was just a random one-off!

We use either turkey or salmon because Coco is allergic to everything but turkey, rabbit and fish. I never bother doing a gradual switch, just go straight into the new bag.

I have just emptied a new bag into the storage tubs tonight and yes, there are holes punched across the width of the sack from and back just below the label. I wonder if this is to get the air out so that they can pack it in boxes? It is always very neatly packed in a square shape.

i have had my last two deliveries on next day delivery but taking advantage of the 5% discount so that I know when to expect it (usually at the last minute).

They say the next discount day won't be until black Friday - is that November or December?

I assumed it was November and sure I read it on Facebook somewhere too. I have made sure I'm well stocked for the two months and hoping their hampers and new treats will be available for Black Friday.

I will have to check my sacks again as definitely couldn't see any holes.

Cool, I think I'll either do the same, or invest in another food storage bin then we can play meal roulette

Well goodness me, the plot thickens some more! I'm really pleased I asked you all about this. That's a very good theory Pam. Although fish4dogs manage to flat pack them well too, and the bags aren't full of air so maybe they have the gear to suck the air out. Even though I'm happy to have changed, I have to say fish4dogs really set the standard on packaging. Their sacks are sealed, thick and foil lined, even with resealable zippers on top! But probably adding 5 to the price.

I still love MW, but it is a bit off putting. One of the big appeals of dry food is that it has a 10-18 month shelf life. But in an unsealed bag, I don't know any more! I have to admit I have a bit of an OCD for hoarding highly used commodities and hate leaving things till the last minute! I have towers of toilet roll and kitchen roll packets, all stock piled when good offers are on! Visitors find this highly amusing!

Yes that's what prompted me to order weekend just gone. I was specifically waiting for the next discount weekend to order!

Just had another look at one of our new bags and can definitely see holes in it, goodness knows what I was looking at the first time if I managed to miss them!

Have you had your delivery of highland yet? Can you see what I mean about difference in kibble texture to the tracker one?

I'm going to invest in another food storage bin before cracking open the highland, watch this space

Well, the highland mix has gone down a treat!
I definitely see what you mean about it being a lighter texture, a lot more in the bowl by weight.

And for the dog whom eats like she's never seen food before, Gemma was actually munching and crunching some mouthfuls of it - this is a world first! Whether that was a fluke due to the novelty we'll have to see!
