Default Looking for a new food - restricted diet

Suggest something that comes in turkey or rabbit (or non-smelly fish food)! Preferably no wheat and minimal beet or other fillers.

I currently feed mine on Burns fish & maize (they have a total of 500g per day at around 30-33 per 12kg sack so it works out at about 1.40 per day).

OH keeps moaning about the smell and says I have to get a non fish food next time

JWB do a turkey and rice one and so do Skinners but I didn't feel that Coco did very well on Skinners when I tried it previously. There's also Wainwrights which I'd be tied to [email protected] for. I like the sound of Millies Wolfheart but it is a bit expensive.

Any other suggestions?

Coco is 24kg but has less than the recommended amount, Griffin is 25kg and needs slightly more than Coco to maintain weight.

Personally, I don't find the Burns fish and maize offensive so I'd be happy to stick with that.

Cola is on Millies and absolutely loves it,she has never once turned her nose up at it since starting it.

Have you had a look at the feeding guides and worked out costs? It might not work out that much more expensive. Portions are smaller I think than some. I have guesstimated costs for cola being fully grown and it isn't too bad.

Food has no wheat eye and it all smells great. Even the fishy ones smell ok and I hate fish! I don't eat or touch it and never have done .... Until getting cola and I will even now touch fish dog food!

I don't know if you buy food in bulk but if buying two or more bags from Millies it works out cheaper. Once cola is back on her gamekeepers I will hopefully get two bags at once. It knocks about 2-3 off each bag I think

Warn him first that if a change of food brings on doggy farts, you can't be held responsible

It's very fishy here too, but it's amazing how the nose acclimatises to common smells. Visitors often comment though

Millies has larger feeding quantities than Burns and costs around 2/3 as much again. I would be paying almost double to feed them.

Unfortunately Burns don't do turkey or rabbit.

I have fed JWB but look out for the salt ! I wondered why mine always seemed to drink a lot on it and when I went on the dog food guide I saw why !
I have fed Wainwrights too, but, like you, didn't want to be tied to PAH. I have also fed Skinners in the early days but it made Bella windy and after Ruby needed to go cereal free, duck and rice was a no no too. This is why I have ended up with Millies, I can get a food which suits each dog, low fat for Bella and cereal free for Ruby, and it is delivered within a couple of days of ordering so saves lugging big sacks from shop to car !

I moved away from wainwrights and onto skinners but I've since moved back onto wainwrights . Millies looks great but it's more expensive than the wainwrights so I can't really justify spending the extra tbh . Yes it means I'm stuck to PAH but I'm sick of looking around at different foods now

A peg for your OHs nose possibly

I'm actually swinging towards JWB turkey, I have a 20% voucher for [email protected] (53.99 there) or it is 38 on Pet Supermarket and I'm sure there will be a 10-20% discount code soon for them. Wainwrights is a close second.

I had a live chat with Becka at Burns today and she said they were developing a turkey one. But until that comes out we will have to use something else.

I've just started Mason on Markus Muhle NaturNah.

It specifies the main meat as poultry which I believe is mainly turkey but will have some chicken as well.

Mason loves it. He runs to his bowl when we dish it up. He was on Arden Grange puppy food and we were going to move him over to their adult food but after a lot of reading I decided to try MM.

I'm glad I did. He has less wind and his coat is like an otters it is so sleek.

I feed mine Autarky. It's wheat and gluten free and free from colourings etc. It's a hollistic food
It's really great value -between 20 and 24 for 15kg

http://www.autarkyfoods.com/

I buy mine online from here https://www.gjwtitmuss.co.uk/b/1074/autarky-dog-food

If you order 2 x 15kg bags at a time it's free delivery.

Tbh if I was you I would be looking for a food without any cereals at all, so avoiding rice and maize.
