Hi all, will the pup lab lost his appetite on the dry food ard 4 to 5(or more) months old?
My labbies still seems like uninterested in the dry food which i changed from chicken to lamb&rice and now fish flavour of the dog food.I had been tried that your all tought me that leave the dog food for 15 minutes, will keep it up if he doesn't eat. But the ridiculous thing is he doesn't eat any dog food(besides human food, milk, fruits and cat food) for 2 days. If i hand feeding him, only 1 cup he ate for whole day.
Breeder said this is normal to the pup since he so healthy and hyperactive, but too bad he looks so thin.
Did your all had this problem before? i going mad if he continue that way. :-x

Thanks.

im no expert on feeding but i think your pup is just used to human food and the other food you feed it which is wrong your pup should be on dog food not HUMAN food its bad for them..

keep trying dog food make the dry food soft by adding hot water (let it cool before feeding) and just keep trying... human food is very bad for you pup and will make him ill..try tinned dog food aswell thats soft and a bit like cat food (my dogs often steal the cats food..lol..)

are you in touch with the vet? talk it over with him but no more human food!

Hi Pauline
If he's been used to being hand fed and eating human food and cat's food (cat's food is much higher in protein than dog's food, so don't allow him to eat it) for some time, then you will need to be consistent and firm about it.
But the ridiculous thing is he does...an food, milk, fruits and cat food) for 2 days
Does this mean you are still giving him the human food, milk, fruits and cat food when he doesn't eat his own? If that's the case, then you must NOT give him any food except the dog food you put in his bowl. Leave it about 20 mins and if not eaten take it up and give him nothing (including human food) till his next mealtime. When you say he looks so thin, do you mean his ribs are sticking out? or can you just feel his ribs?

actually....

i have a similar problem with Harvey. we have changed from bakers complete to pedigree chum and now to eukanuba. The little darling has now decided he doesn't like this one too. The only way we can get him to eat it is if we mix in a little puppy meat, which he adores. The problem is that my husband thinks that he is spoilt but when he hasn't eaten 4 meals in a row it gets a little worrying.

dont know what he is thinking :(

Hi guys, i gave him HUMAN's FOOD(just a little) just wanted to tested him whether he is lost his appetite or fussy in his dry food? My conclusion is he know how to choose the delicious food. :D . What the..........
I tried mixed plain yogurt on his dry food this morning, he finished all the food in his bowl, just wondering, is it will affect his healthy?Only half cup of the yogurt i mixed in.
Dear clairemck, i do agree with your husband that your way will spoilt your lab,but what to do? we love our labs so much. :p (we have to find a better way to solve the problem)
Dear lablover,i only gave him a little of cat food and human food to test him, when he start to eat the food, i warning him with NO,obviously he likes the cat food smell instead of his dry food. His ribs does not sticking out,but he not like your labs looks chubby.
How come he can stand without any food for 2 days? 8O
Thanks to your guys willing to share your opinions with me. Will keep your update my status.

Hi Pauline....

There is no doubt our food is so yummy and once our darlings get a taste of it there is no way they wud go back to eating boring dog food  ..

Milk Yogurt and fruits are so palatable....My young boy has to have milk in his dog food...Luckily he can digest milk so no harm....

But at times when he does not want to eat he will not eat but merrily gobble down our food. .. its a kind of emotional blackmail... he learnt that if i refuse my food mummy's gonna give me something yummy lolz.... My heart breaks to be Tough on him but i was told to keep him hungry till he learns to eat his own food... our food can be given as a treat for being a good boy...

Hope this helps
