The view is a little high. Ideally she should have been photographed from level wither head. But saying that, front and rear angulation and shoulder placement appear quite reasonable. Head quite nice, but at 6 months old that is likely to change a little yet. It's quite heavily stopped, a little more than I prefer, but modern bitches in the ring are more heavily stopped than the dogs of my youth. Ears might be a little large. They give me the idea that there could be a dog from working lines somewhere in the pedigree. Not a bad natural stand. Personally I would prefer to see her carrying a bit less weight, but sadly that's what the judges like these days. But to me brought up on Labradors from the 1960/70's it's simply not right. The Labrador should be a middleweight hunter, not a cart horse, to the extent that the KC added the lines into the breed standard :-

Characteristics: . . . . . . . very agile (which precludes excessive body weight or excessive substance).

Body: Chest of good width and depth, with well sprung barrel ribs - this effect not to be produced by carrying excessive weight.

Sorry to harp on about this, but it's something I feel very strongly about. Judges are beginning to take notice of weight, but they have a long way to go before they get back to such dogs as Ch Candlemas Rookwood Silver Moonlight, my all time favourite and grandsire of my first Labrador.

Regards, John
