Are anyone else's labs moulting at the mo?

All three of my girls are having a really heavy moult and it's been going on for a week or two now. It's driving me insane!

They come in the lounge and within minutes there is a black film across the carpet. We (well meaning OH really) are having to hoover at least twice a day.

Their fur is literally coming out in chunks.

Please tell me it's not just mine Smile

I'm am shocked that Alfie hasn;t moulted yet... Shocked A few random hairs when sweeping up but thats it.

I remember Madison though she left a trace o fhair all year round, expect in March when i thought one morning i would get up and she would be bald...lol she lost that much.

I haven't noticed any more hairloss than normal but I was thinking only today that Coco's coat was looking a bit patchy in colour so it is likely that she is starting to moult and I'm seeing the dead/loose hair. I'm sure it is the recent sunshine that is causing it. Coco was sunbathing in front of the patio doors the other day.

Yes,I think Lottie has started. She has a big shaved patch on her side where she has been stitched following a dog bite last weekend. The hair is coming away at the edges. The good news for me is that,if she is growing her summer coat, her bald patch will be filled in sooner than it would have been in the Winter Wink

I have noticed Harvey is too, over the last few days there has been fur everywhere, when we were sitting on the decking the other day i decided to rub my hand up his back just to make sure, yes he is molting.

How often do they molt a year? and how long for?

coco-loco... i think your right, it must be the recent sunshine.

Pud definitely is - have you tried a furminator. I did my 2 at the weekend in the front garden and I dont think i have ever got so much hair off him - there are clumps of it still there. It does make a difference to how much comes off when i am stroking him and generally in the house Very Happy

Busby started about two weeks ago and it's driving me insane - not even the furminator seems to be making much of a difference. I've never known anything quite like it and we have two GR's aswell! Laughing

Nothing happening here yet, Indy is on her usual perma-moult and Anna is still refusing to let go of hers. I'm sure it won't be long before the pair of them go into super-moult...
