Hi and welcome.
Where do you live. If you are in Cumbria, then I would be happy to point you in the direction of training classes etc. The lady that begun the thread that mojo has provided the link for was from South West Scotland and I think, if I recall correctly, details were provided for training classes in her area but there is other useful advice about starting to show on thread as well that you may find useful.

Hopefully someone from the Ayr area will notice this and be able to help you with training classes. The training classes that help you and your dog learn the skills needed in a show ring are known as ringcraft. You might find some for your area on the internet or if you can find out if there are any Canine Association Clubs in your area, they may be able signpost you. Even better, they may hold ringcraft classes.
If you haven't had a chance to look at the thread mojo provided the link for, my first port of call would be to ask your dog's breeder for advice and guidance on showing and to advise you as to whether your lab is of the correct conformation to meet the breed standards required in the ring. If your breeder actively shows then he/she may be able to guide to ringcraft classes as well.
I contributed on the above mentioned thread and I think I suggested for any new dog exhibitors to have a look around one or two local shows as well to get an idea of what showing involves - that's what my OH and I did before we started showing last year on the advice of our breeder.
One thing I will warn you about showing - it is addictive but also great fun. Enjoying exhibiting is the main ingredient, and getting placed or winning a class is a bonus. Hope to see you around the shows. How old is your lab?

addictive is good for me as i only got my first lab as a family pet for the kids and soon after that got a second ,just cant think of anything better than going for long walks with my babies (the woes of life just seem to dissapear for a hour), after some long thoughts i am now looking to get a puppy to show, havent got a brreder picked yet but these things cant be rushed i suppose.
