Last Thursday when out walking, Charlie suddenly went lame on his back right leg (that he had his hip re - replaced last year).
We got him home and rested him and I rang Graham (specialist) who tried to calm me down and reassure me as much as poss.
Friday he seemed a bit better but on Saturday he was bad again so I rang the specialist to see if I could give him Tramadol that I had left from the summer.
He was still no better after the weekend so we went to see Graham today who said his hip felt ok but he was a bit sore at the bottom of his spine.
We left him for xrays and MRI scans.
We've just been to pick him up and the good news is that his hip is absolutely fine and his spine is too.
Charlie has been on a high dose of steroids for the last couple of weeks (from our GP vet) for his allergies and Graham says that steroids leave you open to infection and as nothing has shown up on the scans then he could have an infection in his new hip.
So my special big bear is on AB's and pain relief and goes back to see Graham next week.
Please can you send some 'let it be an infection and easily cured' vibes for Charlie
Thank you
oh and on a lighter note, both me and Charlie have broken 2 records today
Charlie for being the most expensive lab they've treated and me for being the owner who has rung the most times in 1 day to see how their dog is
