Megan has been on hormone treatment for incontinence (works a treat) and gets her urine checked regularly before her repeat prescription. The last check threw up a small amount of bilirubin in the sample of wee - and the repeat sample after a month to rule out chance has just confirmed its presence again so now she needs a blood test (or rather two - one fasted and the other 2hrs after eating).

Should I be worried? She seems very well for an 8 year old.

Think your vet is on the case Very Happy

my understanding is that this is high lighting liver issues or the breakdown of blood cells both of which would not be what you would want but your vet is doing the blood samples to find out what is going on .

Not easy to say but try not to worry , if there are liver issues happening it may be a matter only of low fat diet and multi vits to support it .
Dont know about the hormone treatment though , that may be contraindicated but your vet will walk you through that.

So at this stage try not to worry .

Well, results came in - absolutely NEGATIVE Very Happy

Not even a trace of enzyme which could indicate scarring on the liver and wouldn't necessarily affect general health in the short term, and certainly no sign of liver disease.

So.... a mystery, but the vet wants to test her wee again in 3 months.

Is she being over-zealous? Confused

Phew - glad the results are negative, and personally I think it's great that your vet's playing safe here. Hope it all comes to nothing in any case!
