hi

my dog was mated 33 days ago, but at 22 days we went to the vets because she had a UTI he felt her tummy and said he could feel little lumps and said she was pregnant, he asked us to come back in 10 days which we did yesterday, he felt her tummy again and said he couldn't feel anything just fat!!! missy is or was i should say a slim lab and has just started to fill out, he is sending us for a scan (she will be 35 days). so my question is could she be pregnant, and can the vet feel for pregnancy at 32 days? im sooooo confused !!!

My vet always confirms by scan between 28 and 35 days.

TBH - you need the bitch to be subjected to as little interference as possible in the early stages - I know some breeders don't even scan.

Hope you get the result you want.

If there is not many they can tuck them away and really keep you guessing. You tend to know for sure if it's a big litter but never really do if there are only a few

Kelly you will soon know. To be honest most vets know less about breeding than you would think. Most have never bred themselves and get very few owners through who are breeding. I really now would take her nowhere and do nothing and sit back and watch to see if her nipples drop down, her vulva stays swollen and the hair starts to go around her teats. You will know if shes in pup within a couple of weeks now pretty clearly so just cross your fingers. You will know if her waistline has expanded through extra food if you search your soul Wink Its so tempting to hope they are pregs and chuck an extra cup in each day. Which adds up and gives a misleading result on the eye. So if thats not the case and you have strictly stuck to her food volume, and shes now expanding....shes in pup Wink Don't let anyone fiddle about with her now.

hi, newbie here. I took my lab to the vet at 28 days to check if she was pregnant and after a good feel around of her tum he said he could feel lumps. I wa shocked as didnt think the one time mating had caught as so late in her season. I didnt really believe him and kept trying to feel myself but couldnt feel anything. She didnt look pregnant at all until last week. she is now 40 days and you can see her middle has expanded and her nipples are sticking out loads whereas normally you cant see them.

They told me a vett can only tell as early as 25 days so maybe it was too early for him to feel your dogs tummy. By now though you should see just below her rib cage is looking like a barrell lol
Hope its good news for you.

so your dog is due about the same time as mine then give or take a few days lol Holly is on day 56 now. She hasnt really lost any hair but you can see the puppies moving when she lays on her side and teats very big.
Getting excited as counting down the days.

I wouldn't be touching her tummy, she be unconftorable enough, or touching her nipples apart maybe give her tummy a wash just before whelping. Be surprised how quick pups can get tummy bugs from around mums nipples .

The very average size labrador litter would be around 6/7/8 pups. A small litter would be 1/2/3.
