Hi all,
I have spoken to a few members about camping in the New Forest over Easter and doing some nice long walks with our dogs, and had a positive response, so I've gone ahead and done my "organisational thing" LOL
I have done some research and all the campsites actually WITHIN the New Forest are horrendously expensive, packed to the rafters on bank holiday weekends, and get okay-ish to mediocre reviews. The biggest downfall of these campsites is that most of them don't take group bookings
I have found a campsite just outside the New Forest, at Fordingbridge (Hampshire), which gets great reviews, is happy to take a group booking, isn't too packed, and while not dirt cheap, is more affordable than most (they always hike the prices up on Bank Holidays ).
So, to that end, who wants to come camping with us over Easter?
Pitches range in price depending on the size of your tent:
2-man tent £17
4-man tent £19
6-man tent £22
Electric Hookups are available, and dogs of course are welcome (though cost an extra £1).
I have booked 6 pitches in total, if you'd like one please PM me and I will give you the details of the campsite. You will need to phone them to book, and you will need to pay a £20 deposit now to hold your pitch, the balance is due on arrival.
We're arriving on Good Friday (2nd April) and leaving on Easter Monday (5th April) but you're welcome to arrive earlier or stay later, or even only stay 1 or 2 nights if you prefer.
We'll all get to pitch together, and if the weather is abysmal of an evening there is a small function-room type thing we can hire for the evening to keep us all warm and dry. I've got a heater so you're welcome to warm up in our tent as well
I have just booked a pitch for Leanne & I, who wants to join us?
I figured we could do some fab walks on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday - probably do the walk we did the other day, plus 2 other new ones. The New Forest is absolutely beautiful, so if you haven't been before, now's your chance!
PM me if you want to book
Ness

I'm already booked to go away to Longleat over the Easter weekend with OH and some of our non- dog owning friends. (Jet is coming, that is non-negotiable!)

I would love to come camping with you but as our one & only experience of camping with the dogs was in our back garden and was a disaster I think the New Forest is a bit far to come for our first proper attempt. Hopefully we'll have a few gos nearer to home once the weather gets better and maybe get to join a LF camping trip later in the year
