Video! Video! Video! The rumours are true and the launch is NOW! We’re thrilled to introduce
LabTube on Labrador Forums. A place to upload and share all of your favourite Labrador videos. Anyone can view the Videos on
LabTube and if you’re a Gold subscriber of Labrador Forums, you can upload and share your own videos with everyone else.
For the last couple of weeks, we’ve been hosting a super secret beta group to work out the kinks. Check out some of our favourites at
LabTube. And speaking of the beta group, we’d like to thank our members who helped us out (and entertained us) with their uploads.

>> Hip dysplasia and T.P.O.
Posted by labadmin on Tuesday, May 18 @ 21:06:00 BST (397 reads)
sewelly writes "Sam’s story.
Sam is a black Labrador retriever born 24th April 2009, my wife and I went to breeder to view pups, question was posed to the breeder at the time regarding hip scores, she scoffed and said it was not always reliable, the warning bells should have sounded but we had seen the litter and basically picked the pup or should I say he picked us. The deal was done and on the 17th June 2009 Sam became part of the family.
Sam settled in well and developed into a handsome young dog. On the 2nd of January 2010 a couple of hours after his usual morning walk he was favouring his right rear leg, I put this down to possible a slight twinge due to running about daft in the deep snow. After two days he was still favouring his right rear leg so a visit to the vet was arranged, Sam was examined by the vet and put on a course ant-inflammatory drugs, after a week there was little change the vet recommended X rays.
The results of the x-rays confirmed our worst fears, yes hip dysplasia in both hips. I was devastated and contemplated euthanasia of the dog, which the vet disagreed with saying that we should discuss it further. Our vet referred us to Mr John Ferguson of East Neuk Veterinary Clinic. We made an appointment for a consultation, Mr. Ferguson explained all the options open to us then asked us to leave the dog for about 2 hours in order for him to take more X rays. The afternoon consultation gave us hope; there was something they could do for the dog, which was a Triple Pelvic Osteotomy on both sides.
27th January 2010 Sam received his first operation, discharged five days later and then home to a cage for four weeks with only out to the garden on a leash for his business and back into the cage.
22nd February 2010 Sam received his second operation, discharged five days later and then home to a cage for another four weeks with only out to the garden on a leash for his business and back into the cage.
The second confinement appeared to affect the dog the most as he was obviously not in any pain or discomfort and felt that he should be running around as all 11 month old pups should do.
After the second confinement of four weeks we started the routine of 10 – 15 minute walks, on the leash, to build up his strength. 9 weeks after the second operation back to the clinic for a final assessment.
Again we left Sam for a couple of hours for examination and x-rays, on our return to pick the dog up Mr. Ferguson told us that he was delighted with his progress and he could see no reason as to why Sam should not lead a full and active life.
Moral of the story if parents are not hip scored walk away.
Essential to get dog insurance and to read the small print, I had Sam insured through “Argos” pet insurance (platinum) and would recommend them to anyone as there was absolutely no question about paying the vets fees, which at the end of the treatment came to approximately £4000.
Sam is now a healthy young dog, who enjoys his walks in the woods and getting into mischief with our 4-year-old grandson,
A big thank you goes to Mr. John Ferguson.

>> Looking for BRUNO
Posted by julieadmin on Friday, March 26 @ 20:16:17 GMT (562 reads)
LabsinFrance writes "I am trying to find the whereabouts of one of my puppies.Bruno is a Black Lab. born 29 Oct 2006.Very affectionate and good with children, dogs, cats and horses. A "friend" gave him a home where he seemed very happy, but she had to return to England in November 2009.She promised to let us know how he was settling in,but we heard nothing and she didn't answer our messages. Now I have learned that she no longer has him.
I feel that I have failed him,and am trying to satisfy myself that he has found a good home.
If anyone has any information please let us know.
Many Thanks"

>> Labrador Who Swallowed Eight Golf Balls
Posted by julieadmin on Saturday, February 13 @ 22:22:00 GMT (892 reads)
Toby the Labrador was left feeling well below par after swallowing eight golf balls, and now his golf-loving owner is on the lookout for a new caddy.
The yellow Labrador from west London was taken to the vet by his owner when he went off his food and an x-ray revealed that he'd eaten eight golf balls.
His owner, Jerry Murphy, is a keen golfer and takes Toby with him while he plays, but was more than surprised when x-rays showed that his dog was as keen on golf as he was.
