>> Labrador Who Swallowed Eight Golf Balls
Posted by julieadmin on Saturday, February 13 @ 22:22:00 GMT (182 reads)
Toby the Labrador was left feeling well below par after swallowing eight golf balls, and now his golf-loving owner is on the lookout for a new caddy.
The yellow Labrador from west London was taken to the vet by his owner when he went off his food and an x-ray revealed that he'd eaten eight golf balls.
His owner, Jerry Murphy, is a keen golfer and takes Toby with him while he plays, but was more than surprised when x-rays showed that his dog was as keen on golf as he was.

>> Labrador Puppy Back On Feet After Badly Broken Leg
Posted by julieadmin on Wednesday, February 10 @ 22:13:24 GMT (173 reads)
A Labrador puppy is back to his mischievous tricks after breaking his leg so badly it took two vets, a four-hour operation and nearly two months of aftercare to get him back on his feet.
Vet Tim Garran said the injury to dog Kenzo's leg was one of the worst he had ever seen when his owner brought him into the PDSA PetAid Hospital in Gillingham, Kent.
The excitable puppy had injured himself as he ran around his owner's legs, tripping both of them up and breaking his right front leg when it became entangled in his lead.
Mr Garran said the break needed urgent treatment as puppies' bones are softer than adult dogs. An X-ray showed it had had fractured in three places and it needed to be operated on the same day if there was any chance of saving it.

>> Labrador brings deadly snake home in Melbourne, Australia
Posted by julieadmin on Saturday, February 06 @ 21:58:31 GMT (190 reads)
MELBOURNE (Australia) - OWNERS of black labrador Bronson were stunned when the dog arrived home with a deadly snake wrapped around his nose.
According to the story in the Herald Sun newspaper, the snake coiled around Bronson's snout and locking his jaws closed, was believed to be a deadly copperhead.
'He's normally an excellent duck dog but he'll pick up absolutely anything and return it to us, hanging on to it until we say 'give',' explained Bronson's owner, Deborah Allen. 'My husband Peter didn't know he'd lost his mobile phone out in a paddock recently until Bronson returned with it in his mouth.'
Bronson was lucky his owners were at home on their property at Yarragon, outside Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria, when he got home. As the couple tried to decide what to do about the situation, Mrs Allen took a photo of the unusual sight.
'But he had a real forlorn look on his face like he was saying 'Hurry up and take this thing',' Ms Allen said.
Once his owners had captured the snake in a hessian bag, Bronson was rushed to the West Gippsland Veterinary Centre where a coagulation blood test confirmed Bronson had copped a bite. Four days in hospital followed on a drip, but Bronson is now happily at home.

>> Treo The Labrador Awarded Animal VC
Posted by julieadmin on Saturday, February 06 @ 21:38:25 GMT (293 reads)
Treo, an eight-year-old black Labrador, saved countless lives in Afghanistan last year by locating hidden roadside bombs.
The search dog twice saved soldiers and civilians from catastrophe while out on patrol in Helmand province by sniffing out explosives which had been wired together in a daisy chain and hidden in the path.
Princess Alexandra will award the dog with the Dickin Medal at a ceremony at the Imperial War Museum on February 24.
The medal was created by leading veterinary charity the PDSA and is recognised as the highest award an animal can receive for conspicuous gallantry or devotion to duty while serving in military conflict.
