Not for me, but someone has asked a question which cooked meat should they feed their dog (not a lab). He was giving stewing steak or chicken both cooked, and turkey as a treat at christmas. The vet has said to cut out the red meat and the turkey, which is not good for the dog.

Wondered if lamb and rabbit are ok (cooked).

Why no cooked red meat and is turkey really bad for dogs (I've been using some as treats for Corbie at the moment)?

He's supplementing the cooked meat with rice/veg.

Don`t know why the meats he`s feeding are bad Karen, Cindy and CJ get all of that (raw) and it doesn`t seem to have harmed them in any way, I know too much red meat is supposed to be bad for humans, but didn`t know it was (supposedly) for dogs.

How old is the guys dog?, I`d say if he`s doing ok on it so far leave him that way, if he`s putting on weight then cut back the amount he`s feeding and give a bit more exercise if he`s able.

Hopefully someone else will know why red meat and Turkey are not good for dogs Smile

Thanks Mary. I thought they were all ok raw as well.

The dog (westie) is 4 years old and had been fed those from 1 year until he was 2 when the vet said not to feed those.
