As in my other post, we are having a few problems with getting Tilly to wee in the place that we want her to. We put her down there and she doesn't like it, she just wimpers and eventually just lies or sits down and doesn't go for a wee.....

This won't fit into the routine that we need her to get into as on some mornings I need to be out of the house for 8am.

So we have decided that we shall let her sniff the whole of the patio area and decide where she wants to wee (not ideal, but a whole lot quicker). The question is, once she gets more into the routine of knowing that outside is wee wee area, will we then be able to train her to go in a certain spot?

TIA

Hi,
Probably yes.
Once she has a little more control over her bladder etc, you could try taking her to a certain area of the garden. Have her on the lead and just wait until she does something. She will have to wee eventually so it will come. She might be stubborn at first though. But once she smells that shes previously pee'd on that area she should visit the same spot regularly and will prob start using that area very often, if not most of the time.

Hi, I did a search for this topic as I have just recently had my backgarden decked and now there is no grass for Dusty to go to the loo on. As soon as the decking was finished she went to investigate and instantly urinated on it Exclamation

She has a large enclosed pen area of her own which I ideally would like her to use as her toileting area now, but she has always waited until she is released apart from the occassional time. I have never punished or shouted at her for using her pen as a toileting area in the past.

I have used the trigger words and went to her pen and repeated them, but looks at me quizzically like I'm giving her two separate commands " Go into your pen to get busy".

Does mopping up their urine and spreading it on a new area work at 2 years old? Do I have to keep her in her pen for a few days continuously until she realises it's ok for her use her pen as a toileting area?

Has anyone every experienced this, or have any advice? Many thanks. Razz
