We tried to feed our last lab on the dry food but he wasn't keen on it, however, I do know a lot of people swear by it. You can also get wet pouches. (I would use it too if Jasper could manage dry food - he always look like he has a problem eating dry food).
I'm not an expert but we swapped to JWB Ocean fish and rice when changing from the Beta puppy we got from his breeder. He was a bit hyper on the Beta and the JWB clamed him down.
I like the fact that is isn't full of nasties and is available from PAH and Amazon. We do mix a bit of Winalot Tuna food in with it to make it a bit more interesting for him though.
Food is a bit of a minefield and there's lots of conflicting advice on here. From my research I think most consider it to be a good medium priced food.
Toby's coat SHINES on it though!

This is tthe food the breeder is using and so didn't want to change it, I also liked the lack of nasties in it, and a shiny coat is a nice little added extra
We use JWB for Indi. After finding out her allergies to chicken, beef, pork and wheat we struggled but came on here and everyone sweared by it. I thought i would give it a go and voila we have a calmer dog, more solid poos and everyone tells me what a gorgeous chocolate glossy coat she has. She never had that before and had runny pooes, bounced off the walls and she had doggy dandruff and a very dull coat. She was on Royal Canin Labrador before. So glad we made the switch and when pupster number 2 comes along we will be def switching them to JWB!!! We buy the wet pouches occasionally as a treat for her and pop half a pouch over a meal just to spice the meal up a little bit!! We buy ours from petplanet.co.uk. But I have seen it in a shop called Petstop if you have one near to you for £38 a bag instead of £40ish (for a 15kg) a bag. I like the idea that it isnt full of nasties either and def has made a real difference to her. We also feed her JWB crackerjacks but we break them up so they are smaller and also Fish4Dogs treats - They stink but she goes mad for them. We also give her Dr Chew Sweet Potatoes as a snack at lunch! If you say sweet potato to her she runs straight to her cushion and lies down ready for her lunch!!!
I feed my 11 month old lab JWB turkey and rice kibble mixed half and half with nature diet chicken.
I may change at some point but for now this mix has Django shiny and with solid poos. Some people criticise JWB on here, I've come to the conclusion you have to work out your price point and what you think is important. I like to give my dogs more than just dry food because they love the taste of real food so much but many suggest that kibble alone is best/good.
My next move would be to BARF I think, when I can get my head around what that'll mean.
I also give both my dogs left-overs occasionally so they have a bit more variety and to keep them jolly.
I've fed JWB in the past and my dogs did well on it. I don't think it's the best food around, but it's a long way from being the worst and I had no qualms in feeding it to mine at the time (and I'm fussy ).
Just remember though, not all feeds suit ALL dogs. Some will do well on this and others will not. If the pup has been weaned onto this and has been fine, I'd stick with it at least for the first couple of weeks, settling in period. Then if you, for whatever reason, want to change it after that, do so gradually.
