Hi,
This gorgeous Staffie cross, Simba, who is 3 years old, was confiscated by police in the UK on 3 October 2011, suspected of being pitbull type
He has loving owners, who are receiving support and guidance on BSL/the DDA from an experienced organisation, and they are determined to get their boy back.
and while I don't know that petitions such as this have any effect on things, it doesn't hurt to show people how many are opposed to the law allowing family pets to be taken in this way, when they have done nothing wrong.

He just looks like a very sweet boy and if you look through the facebook page there are various photos showing him with his family. I do hope he can be returned safely to his family very soon.
Today I have read about a little puppy who is kept in a crate in a back garden - people are trying to help but so far nothing has happened - and here we have what very much seems to be a much loved pet dog who lives as part of the family, being taken away due to their physical appearance. Where's the common sense or compassion in that?

Unbelievable that yet another dog has been seized purely for the way he looks
Lets hope against hope that this case has a happy ending but it seems that once they have them they won`t let them go no matter what anyone says, lets hope this poor lad is treated better in kennels than Lennox.
Mary, some dogs certainly do get back to their owners, as exempted dogs and some are determined to not be type, after spending considerable time shut up in kennels, but it's terrible that they were even taken in the first place and sadly some dogs are not so "lucky"
I know that it is the law that is the problem and needs changing, so that irresponsible owners are dealt with. I'm certain there are police officers and other "officials" who find BSL as ridiculous and awful as I do.
Simba's owner has updated to say that the police have been in touch to ask whether the owner will sign Simba over to them (to kill).
The owner has advised the police that they will not be signing Simba over and will be fighting to get him back.
I truly hope that he will soon be safely reunited with his family. I can not quite imagine the pain of having a dog ripped away from the family like this
Simba's owner has updated to say that they have been given a court date for next month.
Sadly the PC in charge of holding Simba apparently intends to back the destruction of Simba and won't be supporting registration However the owners are not giving up and won't agree for him to be killed, so will be going through the court process.
Please keep everything crossed that Simba can be released back to his family. It's so sad and unfair
Simba's owner was in court today and not long ago posted this update
"Fantastic news!!!! Simba can go on the exempted dogs list and can come home after we comply with all the requirements. He should be home in about 2 weeks!!! Me and mum cried but our heads still hurt, can't wait til he's home!!"
His owner had had him neutered before he was seized, so he doesn't have to wait to go through that bit. Marvellous news.
It does mean, sadly, that he will have to be muzzled and kept on a lead in public for the rest of his life (and he hasn't ever hurt anyone), but he is GOING HOME
