Hi Everyone!
As the title reads, i am very happy to announce that this month we have two very special labradors who have been awarded the 'Lab of the month' award!
Congratulations go to Bella & Nellie & their owner Stephanie.
Here, Stephanie tells us why she nominated them and why they are so very special.
I think you'll all agree, two very worthy winners

Hi Julie,
I adopted a Labrador some five years ago now, from a neighbour who was moving and didn't have enough room for all of her dogs. Bella was chosen as the one to go for re-homing as she was the youngest, she was only one year old and it was thought she would be the easiest to rehome. I was involved in the conversation at the time and just blurted out "we'll have her"!! oops without consulting my partner , who had said never again after the heart break of Amber (my German shepherd) the year before. I had lost the doggie love of my life, and we had both vowed never again the heart break at the time is so immense, the thought of going through that again, was unimaginable at the time. But I missed having a dog so much and I had played with Bella when she was a puppy, the thought of her going to another home other than ours was out of the question we had a lovely home just waiting for her. My partner said OK but only on a months trial ! Yeah right like that was going to happen!
The day before she was due to move in off we went to pets at home, spent a fortune on a dog bed, treats everything you could think of, as I had removed all traces of dog bits and bobs after we had lost Amber, and my vow of never again! As we returned home with all the goodies Belle was sitting outside my neighbours house, she came running over all excited followed us into the house lay on the new dog bed .............. and the rest is history.Bella would have made a perfect guide dog, hearing dog, gun dog you name it she is of course as far as I'm concerned the most beautiful black Labrador, in the history of black Labrador's! she is my best buddy and we wouldn't be without her for the world. I can never thank my neighbour enough for letting this beautiful dog into our lives.
As an aside to our adoption story.......she didn't settle to well to being left alone when we went to work, as you know Labrador's have the saddest faces at the best of times and she is sometimes referred to as Eeyore! but her face when I left for work was enough to bring anyone to tears. To help her cope with being on her own we bought Bella a present in the form of her half sister... Nellie cross between a Lab and a Dalmatian! OMG !! Well what can I say about Nellie she is as mad as a box of frogs, has enough energy for two and could give any greyhound a run for their money. But they love each other like nothing I have ever seen and I have had two dogs together before. They sleep together everywhere, are never apart in the house, garden and out on walks and if you take one to vets, upon return their reunion is as if they have been apart for weeks! I could ramble on all day in their adventures and could write a book ( maybe I will one day). But I will leave it at that I have attached two photos for you, one of Bell on her own and the other of them dog pile! the cuddly GSD on the bottom, then Bell then Nellie. I love them both to pieces, probably far too much!!
Many thanks for letting me share my story.
Stephanie

Congratulations once again Stephanie & to Bella & Nellie.
We wish you all the happiness for the future, your prizes & special award will be with you soon.
Julie
